Customer service is not so good. Uneven and bias service by the foreign worker server young girl when I requested for extra "Kimchi-ish" tasting sauce that comes with the set meal. The surprising and refreshing pleasant save from a better server who I believe is a local Chinese bespectacled young guy working behind the drinks counter was attentive about the unpleasant experience I faced and stepped up to give me the extra sauce as a free and goodwill gesture when the young foreign girl server said I had to pay for the same extra sauce. When I arrived, there were empty tables everywhere with some customers seated randomly. I opted for a table near the window which I was told by the same young foreign worker server girl that I couldn't sit there because it was only meant for those with three or four people needed to sit at another place which is catered only for two people. Mid way through out dinner, two people came and got the spot and no questions asked. This is unacceptable. Either you stick to a standardized system or don't simply enforce. Food quantity has shrunked. The only saving grace in my books of what is still worth eating here is the salmon sashimi and the little fried prawns or koebi. Finally, asking for another sauce which thankfully didn't need to pay which required more garlic that made a difference to the taste was the teriyaki sauce which they said they could give any much extra garlic as they ran out of it. How can a restaurant like this size run out of garlic? I'm sure if I paid for extra garlic, they would suddenly be available lol anyhow, thanks for taking the time to read through this. It might be...
Read moreThis place is overrated. We ordered the mix sashimi plate, agedashi tofu, tempura don and a grilled Saba rice set. Here are the reasons why I think it's not as good as the ratings described,
Sashimi was very average. Think Sushi Zanmai, but slightly below that standard. Also, the salmon slices are quite thin and they don't serve with Gari (pickled ginger) which should be pretty standard. Agedashi tofu was bad. It wasn't deep fried. This dish is supposed to be deep friend but it was pan fried. Garnish was also not right. Dish was lacking in sauce and was very soggy. This is the worst dish that we tasted here. Tempura was average. Tempura sauce was not served and we had to ask for it. Another thing that is a big disappointment was the RICE! Rice is super important especially in Japanese food. I don't expect top quality like in expensive restaurants. I'm fine with decent but the rice they served was really poor in quality and also cheap. Saba was pretty decent. A little fishy taste probably from being not so fresh but it was pretty alright.
It is located in a pretty cosy housing area with a nice relaxed vibe. However, I don't think I'd return to this restaurant even though it's cheap. There are many other places that are affordable and good in...
Read moreCame here for dinner.
Parking: plenty of parking at site, some right in front of the entrance. There's a distant street lamp to light up the parking space.
Cleanliness: very neat and clean venue.
Food options: Japanese food (no pork on the menu - as far as I know). There's a variety of sushi and sashimi. There's rice, soba, udon and porridge options. I tried their fried rice with seafood and stir fried veggie with beef. The portion was reasonable, not too small or big.
Food wasn't excessively flavoured, there's a good balance between salt and natural favours of the ingredients, texture was also good.
Bonus: green tea is on the house.
Staff were friendly and efficient.
They have private dining spaces available upstairs. Downstairs is mainly their kitchen, cashier and some tables. The atmosphere was rather peaceful, can hold conversation with your tablemates without having to strain your voice.
Pricing: reasonable for the atmosphere and food quality. I will come here anytime over the franchise Japanese...
