Deep inside Lorong Jugra, off Old Klang Road (OKR) is the best BKT shop in KL/PJ that I've eaten so far - barring those from Klang. Located just under an old flat complex, Tua Bak Kia BKT churns out bowls of porky goodness to the adoring crowd. On a weekday, the boss himself was seen cutting the meat personally. The whole premise is clean and tidy, and then even have an air-conditioned area which is a plus point. The counter itself is also clean and Iove the fact that they soak the bowls in hot water to keep them warm. On a good day, spot the herbs that they put to dry under the sun in front of the shop. ◾BKT soup from RM18 (depending on the cuts) - my eyes lit up instantly upon my virgin spoon of the thick soup.. the texture was somewhere in between soup and stew, neither too thick nor thin. The soup packed with sweetness of the pork and herbs which got me asking for refills (allowed). I'd say MSG-free as I didn't feel thirsty afterwards. Meat-wise thick cut and fair portioned. ◾Dry BKT RM22 packed a punch with spiciness that kicked in later, and a very nice profound chilly & dried cuttlefish taste. The sauce was thick and gooey (but in a good way) from the lady's finger. ◾Extra Taufu Pok RM5 to soak in all the soup goodness. ◾Fries fritters or affectionally known as yau char koay RM3 per bowl - don't know about you but it's a must for me when eating BKT. Imagine the agony of not being able to savoury that in Klang as it's not a 'thing'. ◾Lettuce with oyster sauce RM12 - loaded with fried shallots that gave this veggie dish a crunchy touch. Leo's verdict - the soup base of BKT is similar to the ones in Klang but needing stronger herbal taste. I'm not complaining though as I can't ask for more. It saves me the hassle from driving all the way to Klang. The BKT quality here is standing tall against the mighty Klang ones.

Located in quiet and quaint neighborhood that is just a short drive off the loud and busy Old Klang Road, this could possibly be a hidden gem for BKT lovers. I arrived on a weekend for lunch and there was not plenty of people in the restaurant. I was very pleased to see that they offer 2 sections of indoor seatings with one providing air-conditioning for a cooler dine in environment. The place also looked neat and well maintained. I got myself a standard BKT with soup and a mixed cuts of pork meat. I also ordered the yau zha kwai to go along with my BKT. When the BKT was served, I must admit that it looked somewhat underwhelming as there were no mushrooms, bean curd sheets and tau pok. That was not a deal breaker of course as the most essential element is quality of the soup and the pork meat. The BKT soup had a well balanced herbal taste with some hints of bitterness that leaves an almost soothing aftertaste in the back of your throat. I liked that it was not on the sweeter end like some BKT places do. Their version of the BKT soup is cloudy and had a nice body in its texture. The other thing that turned out well was the pork meat. They were all very tender especially the pork belly. Besides that, the flavors were quite on point as well. The yau zha kwai was standard but fresher compared to some other places. Another point I like here was the service of the staff which I thought was very welcoming for an establishment of this sort. Overall I'd say that this is one of the good BKT along OKR and I can see myself revisiting.

DELICIOUS food, HELPFUL staff, WONDERFUL ambience, CLEAN environment, AMAZING showmanship and super VALUE FOR MONEY Bak Kut Teh!!!! 😋😋😋 Really loveee this humble eatery, everything was just absolutely perfect and amazing!!! The BKT is so yummy for both dry and soup based options, I cannot for the life of me decide which I like more! 🥲🫶 also their portions are really generous. 😋😋😋 When we first came, there were several meat options on the menu and we were a bit bombarded. The staff kindly and patiently walked us through the menu and helped us with the selections hehe, so kind of her! You can choose lean meat, fatty meat, pork belly etc etc. 🐷🐽🐖 Let’s talk about the chicken feet!!! Places usually sell that dipped in overly rich sauce and it gets too gelat after awhile. OVER HERE, it’s cooked so well, very light and soooo soft. The portion given was great too. I came two days in a row and was happily feasting away, we wiped out everything both times 😭. I loved it that I could watch the cook prepare the BKT right in front of our eyes. How lovely!! I read that they don’t use MSG for their food too, which immediately gives extra plus points in my eyes. 🤩🤩 Also if you come at an opportune timing you can even catch the sunset here. 🌅 Looking at the pictures is making me crave for the food again. Bring this to Singapore please!!! This place deserves everything good and more!! 🙋‍♀️❤️🤩💯👍🌟
