Disappointed Experience at Maya Solaries
We decided to try Maya Solaries after seeing some great reviews on TikTok, but sadly, our experience didn’t match the hype.
We ordered the squid fry, which shockingly came without any salt. When we pointed it out to the staff, instead of taking it back to the kitchen to fix, they simply returned it to the display shelf — which left us confused and concerned.
The butter chicken was another letdown. The chicken wasn’t cooked through, with meat still stuck to the bone, indicating it needed more time. What made this worse was the service — the person in charge told us he would waive off the butter chicken from the bill, but after learning from his staff that we had already paid, he didn’t come back to follow up or offer an apology. It’s not about the money, but about the principle and basic customer service.
This review isn’t written out of spite — I’ve never written a Google review before — but for the price we paid, the experience was disappointing.
The only items we actually enjoyed were the fried fish and the vegetables. Unfortunately, the mutton was very tough and mostly bone.
We truly expected better and hope they take this...
Read moreI had the pleasure of dining at Maya’s in Solaris recently, and I must say, it was an incredibly satisfying experience from start to finish. Their banana leaf rice stands out with its rich flavors and variety – unlike what you find at most places. Every dish was cooked to perfection and served with care.
We indulged in a generous spread that included grilled tenggiri fish, fried chicken, mango lassi, crab curry, bread halwa, and kesari – each item was absolutely delicious! The sides and desserts offered were diverse, allowing us to truly enjoy a full and balanced meal.
A special shoutout to Mr. Nesan, who made our dining experience even better by recommending every single dish we ordered. His attentiveness and warmth made us feel genuinely welcomed. The service was fast, efficient, and friendly – a rare gem in today’s dining scene.
If you’re looking for an authentic, flavorful banana leaf rice meal with excellent service and a wide selection of sides and desserts, Maya’s is a must-visit.
Highly recommended – can’t...
Read moreWe came here for lunch on a weekday, and street parking in this area is always a challenge. It's best to park in the basement parking at Soho KL. The restaurant was quite empty when we arrived, and the staff greeted and seated us promptly. They were polite and helpful with our orders. The restaurant is clean and airy.
We ordered the Banana Leaf Set Meal (RM14.90 per set). It came with seven side dishes, papadam, rasam, and four types of curries. Everything was great, and we enjoyed our meal. The only downside was that the papadam wasn't crispy, and there were no dried chillies provided. We also added Chicken Varuval (RM14.90), Cauliflower 65 (RM9.90), and Fried Bitter Gourd (RM5.00). We enjoyed all the additional dishes, but the Chicken Varuval and Cauliflower 65 were a bit expensive considering the small portion sizes.
Overall, we were quite pleased with our experience here and will definitely visit again when we are in the area. Also, there was no tissue paper provided at the hand...
