Quan Ice Cream & Coffee House — Restaurant in Kuala Lumpur

This is my 4th visits to Quan Ice Cream & Coffee House @ Desa Pandan. I would like to share the reason why I gave them 2 stars.

The first time I dine-in Quan Ice Cream & Coffer House, my Wife and I fell in LOVE with the place because of the atmosphere, staff were FRIENDLY, Food was GREAT and most importantly the PRICE was Reasonable. However, after what had happen yesterday was one of the WORST experiences that I had in my attired LIFE.

Today was my Mom's Birthday and I took my whole family (9pax) to Quan Ice Cream & Coffee House @ Desa Pandan to had a good dinner. (It was my Family first time visits)

Everything was smooth, the staff that took our order was very nice and friendly.... but halfway eating, my parents wanted to order more food and told me what they want.... The foods that they order were A23 (The picture can be found inside the menu) Portugese CHICKEN Rice.... I called one of the staff to take my order, I Pointed the dish ''Portuguese Chicken Rice'' and read it out according to the menu....

After a few minutes, the Portuguese Rice arrived but it wasn't the one that i ordered....Therefore, I rejected the dish and told the staff that the Portugese BEEF rice wasn't the one I order and request to change cause my parents dislike beef.

After a few minutes, the staff that took my order. Came up to me and telling me that it was my mistake that he heard me saying ''PORTUGUESE BEEF RICE''. which caused him to pay for that dish. He didn't even APOLOGIZE and admit his mistake, he put the blame on me!!!

I told him that I even pointed out the picture that was on the MENU and telling him what was written below the picture and it was written CHICKEN..... Oh Ya, if you take a good look on the MENU, try to LOOK for Portuguese Chicken Rice. You are given selection of EITHER CHICKEN OR FISH...... HOW ON EARTH, I KNOW YOU SERVED BEEF TOO WHERE IT WASN'T EVEN WRITTEN ON THE MENU..... FYI, it was my 4th Visits to Quan Ice Cream & Coffee House!

I was angry and disappointed with that staff putting the blame on customer. I wanted to rate them only 1 Star but because of the FOOD we had were DELICIOUS, I will give the extra Star to the Kitchen Crews.... Good job! It might be my last time visiting Desa Pandan outlet because no Apologize was given by that staff who blame me.

DISAPPOINTED AND WORST...

Loved my tasty Fish Butter rice (topped with a bull's eye fried egg and some thin papadum-like crisps at the side) set lunch that comes with soup, selection of drink and a scoop of Ice Cream. Always have the Rum Raisin ice cream as part of the set.

The Belacan fried rice set tried earlier is good too 👍

Reasonably priced lunch set 👍 and the unique old school ambience with lots of wall decorations.

I see there are many ala-carte & kids meal selections. My friend commented that she plan to bring her kid here one day 😃

Looking forward to try the delicious looking ala-carte western selection next time.

Need to properly explain to them the order made because of the format of the order form that we need to fill up. Hopefully it can be further improved in future.

Also remember to check the order summary that they will place on your table. We felt relieved that they got our orders right.

Visited this restaurant since maybe like 10 years ago... and... nothing much changed compared to the recent visit. The decoration of the restaurant remains, the slightly stuffy environment still the same when there are a lots of customer. Even the menu still remain largely unchanged... except for the price which slightly increased (yes... blame inflation and high cost of living) The restaurant is popular for lunch time. They had set lunch menu which serve quite a numbers of dishes mainly fried rice, or white rice with variety of side dishes (fish, beef, chicken). The set lunch comes with soup, a cup of drink and a small scoop of ice cream. all for the price of about RM15 or slightly more depend on the dishes. Highly recommended if you are nearby and wish to drop for a quick lunch during working hours. Parking are however someone difficult to get around the area and the place is quickly filled up with customer...
