Best place to hold a function like dinner and dance. Big place for ballroom dancing. Parking place for dinner guests are available at B-1-A, B-2A, B-3A. However a little confused to locate lift to lobby for the 1st time- a bit far you have to cross over another block of parking lots. At least they care for the guests/ visitors and give an 'A' for visitors- only the parking 😁😂🤣. Smart casual clothing is mandatory to upkeep the standard of the club which is normal. The food here is fantastic however, the service need to be improved especially by the server/ waiters/ waitress. Top up of water and tea need to be attended to. There are several times glasses remain empty. Clean bowls were not exchanged too or due to lack of bowls. Maybe the waitress were temporary or new but early briefing needed to be given to staff to maintain a pro-active and attentive services during the dinner. Other than that the food and menu was good. To be fair i like the vast space of the ballroom at Banquet hall ,level 2. There is more than enough space to do a ballroom demo and other dance group performance . Overall what the guest wanted at the end of the day was to enjoy themselves. The music were well selected and space between Ballroom standard and Latin. Good to see so many dance couples on the floor. This was written by the writer after attending the MBDC CNY Dinner and Dance party at Royal Lake club on 16 February 2020.

Royal Lake Club has been my childhood place since I was very small. My parents used to love to take me and brother here for swimming, playing games and even eating at their Chinese restaurant Bunga Raya or Buttery, or even the poolside hawker stalls. Just recently revisited Bunga Raya again after so long. Their food is still nice but not as nice as in the 80s/90s. But their poolside hawkers food still delicious. Buttery food maybe some are okay and some not as good. It's possible the good taste of the food have been affected after covid where all the good chefs are gone, even the usual waiters are not around anymore and it's understandable after so long. It may take some time for them to readjust again but hopefully the club will improve overall in the future. Still had some good nostalgic moments here.

The Royal Lake Club is such a lovely gem in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. It is quite well maintained and there are many facilities available for the members. The play area is alright and is equipped with numerous play toys for the little ones. The library is awesome too with a wide spread of fiction books and comics for children. Food wise... it offers all the standard Malaysian favourites at a subsidised rate. The pool is a bit tired looking but serves its purpose well. Many children were learning how to swim with the pool instructors. The tennis courts are always utilised and it's fun to watch many players playing at the same time. Overall the recreation club is very well suited for families. Two thumbs up.

A historic hidden gem in the centre of KL next to the botanic gardens, Parliament, Tugu Negara, bird park, and just down the road from Merdeka Square, Sentral and the Railway station. Perfect location with lots of parking.

This private club has an air of civility and historic ambience. The decor and style can be dated in places, which adds to its nostalgic charm. It is not a luxury 6* clubhouse like the Yacht Club de Monaco which is reflected in the very reasonable pricing. Membership is only by referral and subject to interviews and committee approval. The club offers reciprocal visitor rights to affiliated clubs like the Tanglin Club in Singapore and the Oxbridge Club in London.

Overall well maintained and the swimming pool slides are still great fun for kids after 40 years. Some of the staff have worked here all their lives which adds to the institutional knowledge and culture - which is being imparted to younger trainees from catering colleges.

Great family and multi generational leisure offerings. Lots of facilities and classes and varied dining options at great value (especially considering food and drink prices these days). There are dress codes for certain outlets - which is understandable but which could be updated IMHO to take into account current fashions.

Highly recommended if you can visit with a mate who...

extremely unfriendly security at the club. I drive a Singapore registered car with a disabled driver label on my car. I was told that I cannot park in the disabled parking lots at B1 as I am not a member of the club. This archaic club does not afford any courtesy or compassion on disabled drivers? I was told to move my car to a lot much further away and walk further, adding to my already difficult mobility issues. I was told that I need to produce an OKU card. My car has a label. I am not questioned when I park in any disabled car park lot. Totally unfriendly club. I was told that Malaysians are a friendly and helpful bunch of people. I don't know who runs this club or what sort of unfriendly social club this is. Certainly not a great experience coming here. I would not have come if it were not for a friend's party. This is only the human interaction! The facilities in this club were very run down. The toilets were old and dark and dingy. There were no disable friendly access to the facilities. There were steps to the Bunga Raya outlet. I had to navigate my way up there. I was told that this is a premier social club where the upper echelons of Kuala Lumpur society hung out. Sadly it certainly didn't reflect that "air of sophistication" that one associated with social clubs. Totally not a pleasant...
