Title: A Delightful Malay Food Buffet Experience!
Rating: ★★★★☆
As a fan of Malay cuisine, I recently had the pleasure of dining at Rebung Restaurant, and I must say, it exceeded my expectations. Located in the heart of the city, this establishment offers a fantastic Malay food buffet experience that is truly worth every penny!
Upon entering the restaurant, I was greeted by the warm and inviting ambiance, which immediately set the tone for an enjoyable dining experience. The interior was tastefully decorated, with comfortable seating arrangements that catered to both small and large groups. The staff were friendly, attentive, and always ready to assist, adding to the overall positive atmosphere.
One of the standout features of Rebung Restaurant is undoubtedly its diverse selection of Malay dishes. From traditional favorites to unique delicacies, there was something to tempt every palate. The buffet spread boasted a wide variety of appetizers, mains, and desserts, all meticulously prepared to perfection. Each dish offered an explosion of flavors that were both authentic and satisfying.
The pricing at Rebung Restaurant is also very reasonable, considering the quality and variety of food offered. It allows diners to indulge in a wide array of dishes without feeling like they are breaking the bank. The value for money is simply outstanding, making it an ideal choice for families, groups of friends, or even solo diners looking to experience the best of Malay cuisine.
The service at Rebung Restaurant was exemplary. The staff were knowledgeable about the menu and were more than happy to provide recommendations and answer any queries. They ensured that the buffet spread was constantly replenished, maintaining the freshness and quality of the dishes throughout the dining experience.
While my overall experience at Rebung Restaurant was exceptional, I would suggest that the management consider expanding the seating capacity, as it can get quite crowded during peak hours. Additionally, some minor improvements in terms of ventilation and noise control would further enhance the dining experience.
To sum it all up, Rebung Restaurant is undoubtedly a top-notch Malay food buffet that deserves recognition. From the friendly staff to the delectable selection of dishes, dining here is an absolute delight. Whether you are a connoisseur of Malay cuisine or simply seeking out a memorable dining experience, Rebung Restaurant should definitely be on your list of...

Despite over the top reviews by a few foreigners, a true local would say that this place serves pretty much ordinary day to day food. But since the buffet costs RM 70 for a spread consisting of dozens of dishes, it has become a matter of variety over quality.
First of all, this restaurant serves traditional Malay cuisine from all over Malaysia. We do note that most of the dishes are pretty authentic. However, there are a few hit and miss.
White rice - definitely nailed it Colourful rice - delicious Fermented durian sambal - absolutely delicious Beef tripe in coconut milk - inedible, has that bitter slaked lime aftertaste Tumeric chicken - delicious but sadly too salty Smoked beef in coconut milk - tough and chewy Curry and asam pedas - delicious enough Nasi Lemak - the sambal is good Grilled Lamb - very good Beef rendang - must try Yellow glutinous rice - undercooked and inedible Rojak - fresh and crunchy Beef bone soup - tastes good but tough and chewy Shaved Ice - don't bother to try, it's not shaved fine enough
All the other desserts tasted good but I wanna note that the serawa durian and the pengat pisang are amazing! They are a must try dessert that would scream "Malay" as you eat them.
We do note that the decor is interesting. Lot's of old pots and pans and plates and other stuff that locals barely see on a day to day basis. It invokes a feeling of being inside an old malay house. Some of the spices displayed in front of the restaurant are also starting to show signs of decay.
But would we come back? Probably not. We encourage tourists especially foreigners to seek out specialty restaurant that specialises in cooking these individual dishes.
But if you are out of time to visit the whole Malaysia, this restaurant could be an acceptable budget alternative compared to De.Wan...
Read moreThe concept is great - buffet style Malay restaurant with ample choices of traditional Malay dishes. You have 2.5-hr window to eat all you can. While it is reasonably priced (RM50 per person), I find the food average at best. Perhaps one or two dishes are exceptionally delicious, but the rest are either okay or below average. I think the main issue is inconsistency - your luck depends on which batch of cooking you get. The Cendol was disappointing as they only serve it with evaporated milk rather than coconut milk. The sup tulang has chunks of beef that are rock hard and inedible - they just need to be cooked longer. A lot of the food runs out quickly in some stations but it takes them a while to replace them so I ended up wondering around waiting until the food is available. I also find it annoying that most of the dishes are unlabelled (especially in the nasi campur section) making you wonder what most things are. You wouldn’t struggle to find parking though which is a bonus.
Overall, as I said, a great concept but the food quality needs attention. I may have visited on a bad day because of outstanding reviews here but unfortunately I can’t reflect the same positive experience with my visit today. Most reviews mentioned seeing chef Ismail greeting customers but I didn’t see him at all during my time here (11.30am-2pm) so perhaps that’s why the food quality...
