We were really excited to learn more about Malaysia's wonderful butterflies and moths but this place just left us feeling sad.

My children were sad to see so many dead butterflies, we understand some have a short lifespan but there were so many plus bits of their beautiful wings on the floor. There were some lovely butterflies around but not many and there was no information on the park about them. The garden is pretty but doesn't seem to be rich in foods for the butterflies they eat from one plate of fruit (which has several dead ones on it) and wilting precut flowers. It didn't seem magical or joyful unlike other butterfly conservation projects we have seen

After the garden there are rooms with information about the butterflies but it is very dated in presentation and has nothing about conservation or protection. There are also lots of beetles and scorpions in poor health in overcrowded tanks. It was harrowing to see one beetle being eaten alive by ants and it's worrying when your children start counting the dead animals they see.

There's a lot of old taxidermy that is lined with moth balls so that's all you can smell and it isn't fitting with the idea of conservation of wildlife.

The bunnies outside as we left was probably the worst bit they had no shade or vegetation and were clearly overheating.

I feel really bad for supporting this place.
