The Kuala Lumpur Butterfly Park is truly a beautiful and peaceful spot in the heart of the city. Entry is 30 MYR per person, and while the park itself is relatively small, it offers a unique experience surrounded by lush greenery and a wide variety of butterflies. The atmosphere inside is very tropical and humid — even on a cooler day — so I’d highly recommend bringing a bottle of cold water and perhaps a small fan to stay comfortable.

The highlight of the park is, of course, the butterflies. While many species are present, you’ll notice that one large species is especially abundant and easy to observe up close. These butterflies are quite docile — you might even be able to gently hold one! Just a word of caution: never touch their wings. If you’d like to let one climb on you, simply place your hand under its legs and let it step onto you. When you’re done, return it carefully to a branch or leaf. They’re delicate little creatures, so treat them with care.

After exploring the garden, you’ll exit through a small museum-like exhibit featuring preserved butterflies from around the world, along with displays of insects, scorpions, and snakes in terrariums. It’s both educational and fascinating. Before leaving, you’ll pass through a souvenir shop filled with a nice variety of unique gifts at fair prices.

Overall, the park is definitely worth a visit, especially for nature lovers, photographers, or anyone looking for a peaceful, green escape. It’s probably not a place you’d return to more than once, but it leaves a lasting impression.

Tip: The Butterfly Park is located near several other attractions, including the KL Bird Park and the Perdana Botanical Gardens. While the Bird Park is popular, I personally recommend visiting the Kuala Lumpur Zoo instead. It’s a bit more expensive, but the experience is much more diverse — you’ll see birds as well as many rare animals. However, please note that the pandas are no longer on display (as of August 5th, 2025, they’ve reportedly...

Kuala Lumpur Butterfly Park is a hidden gem in the city and a must-visit for nature lovers, families, and anyone looking for a peaceful escape surrounded by greenery and vibrant wildlife. Located near the Lake Gardens, this tropical paradise is home to thousands of butterflies in a beautifully landscaped enclosure that feels like stepping into a natural rainforest. The park is designed with lush plants, flowers, and small waterfalls that create a refreshing and serene environment. Walking along the winding paths, you’ll see butterflies of all shapes, sizes, and colors flying freely around you, often landing on visitors if you stay still. It’s a magical experience, especially for children, as they get to learn about the life cycle of butterflies and see them up close.

In addition to butterflies, the park also houses a collection of other insects, reptiles, and aquatic life in its mini museum and aquarium section. This makes it not only beautiful but also educational, with detailed exhibits about different species. The photography opportunities here are endless – the combination of colorful butterflies, tropical plants, and flowing streams makes every corner picture-perfect. The park is well-maintained, shaded in most areas, and easy to walk through. Facilities like seating areas and rest stops make it comfortable for visitors, while the souvenir shop at the exit offers unique gifts and butterfly-themed items. It’s also located close to other attractions such as the Bird Park and Orchid Garden, so you can easily plan a full day exploring the area.

What makes Kuala Lumpur Butterfly Park special is the sense of calm and wonder it creates. Despite being in the middle of a busy city, it feels like a different world – quiet, natural, and filled with beauty. It’s an ideal spot for families, tourists, or anyone who appreciates nature and wants a memorable experience in...

Kuala Lumpur Butterfly Park (Taman Rama-Rama Kuala Lumpur) is a lush, tropical garden located near the Lake Gardens in the heart of the city. The park boasts over 5,000 butterflies from more than 120 species, fluttering freely among vibrant flowers, shaded paths, ponds, and waterfalls. Visitors enjoy strolling through beautifully landscaped walkways, spotting butterflies, koi fish, turtles, and a variety of exotic insects.

The atmosphere feels serene and magical, especially if you visit early in the day to avoid the afternoon humidity. Families and nature lovers appreciate the park’s peaceful vibe and the opportunity to learn about the life cycles and habitats of butterflies and other insects. There are also indoor exhibits with live beetles, mantids, frogs, and educational displays about butterflies.

However, some recent visitors have noted that parts of the park feel a bit dated or in need of maintenance, and a few have found the collection of pinned or preserved insects less appealing. Still, most people find the experience enchanting and educational, with particularly positive feedback from children.

Overall, Kuala Lumpur Butterfly Park is a charming escape into nature that is especially enjoyable for families and anyone with an interest in wildlife and photography. Allow about an hour for your visit, bring cash for entry, and consider buying koi food to feed the fish for an...
