Shilin Mian Guan – A Decent Spot for noodle Cravings
When it comes to Taiwanese food, one word usually comes to mind — bland. But I was drawn in by one item on the menu: Hakka jar nyuk wantan noodle. Couldn’t resist. Jar nyuk is my kryptonite — the moment I saw it, I knew I had to order.
For RM11, the portion was fair. The jar nyuk (braised pork belly) was surprisingly good — flavourful, tender, and well-balanced between lean and fat. Not overly salty like some places. But the noodles were a letdown. Overcooked and too soft for my liking. If you’re particular about noodle texture, best to ask them to undercook it slightly. See the photo? Portion is good, can’t see noodles 😂
Ordered a cold tea to go with the meal — glutinous scented pu er tea, not your average tea, this has a sweet note to it. Served chilled in a metal jug with no ice. Me likey.
The place is non-air-conditioned, but ventilation was decent. I didn’t break a sweat. Cleanliness was good, and the shop is manned by foreigners (Burmese) who easily pass off as locals — they spoke fluent Malays and were polite. Service was okay, serving time could be faster. Had to wait 10+ mins for my food to be served and I was the only customer.
Parking? Depends on your luck, as with most places in this area.
I’ll likely return to try other dishes — just with a reminder to go easy on the...

Price is reasonable and food portion is decent. Most importantly it is not crowded. Will try the lazha...
