Today Sunday 11/Dec2022 8.30am … it’s an adventure finding tis food stall, and a challenge in finding a car park in tis area😅 It’s a walk down memory lane of an old wet market situated in a malay settlement, yet surprisingly lined with Taoist & Sikh temple😱 That’s how harmonious we were & hopefully are, for many centuries to come❤️ Tis stall dates back to 1950 (72 years old/now2022). My tasting verdict… rice has very little fragrance of our great nasi lemak santan kick. Sadly, Very lacking 🥲 It’s almost like chap fan white rice. Haiz… must improve d💪💪 Rice3/10 (yes, failed❌) Food tips… Char Yuk (6/10) must eat with sambal then balu get the nasi lemak kick😋 Otherwise will be like eating Chinese chap fan Char Yuk🤣 Sotong texture (6/10) rather hard. Perhaps slightly more tender will be nice, like braised sea cucumber🤣 (that’s my preference! Not necessary yours). Chicken Curry (7.5/10), meat is fresh & tender bcoz chef use fresh chilled chicken. Dry Pork Rendang (6/10)….first few taste is really good “kick” esp taste of lemongrass. But the small cut-size pork meats r hard. Wished it’s more tender. Sambal (6.5/10). Ikan Bilis (8/10) ….good quality👏 Stir Fried KangKong (6/10)....

Read moreFusion fragant rice of both malay and chinese flavour. This nasi lemak stall was started in Chow Kit’s market about 60 years ago by the owner’s grandmother. Initially, they only had two dishes: pork curry and Hakka fried pork. It was only later that sambal cuttlefish and chicken curry were added.
I would reccomend the nasi lemak with ‘hakka fried pork’ . The price is calculated according to the number of slices of pork belly that you take. Customers specify how many pieces of ‘fried pork’ they want, and it’s usually served separately because of its tangy taste; or you cam just mix the pork with curry for that fusion of flavours, i like this.
