K.T.Z. Food (Kepong) — Restaurant in Kuala Lumpur

Managed to find this place from online posts recommending the best tongshui place in KL.

Just ordered 2 bowls of tangyuan (rice ball with black sesame filling), one in sweet potato based dessert soup while the other one in barley with ginkgo nuts dessert soup. Frankly speaking, it was my biggest regret and I will never ever visit it again!

The dessert soup was tasted like plain sugar water, I could barely taste the sweet potato or barley or whatsoever the menu suggested. But the nightmare was actually the rice ball. Refer the photos attached, the dough was very thick (for me, the ratio of its dough to black sesame filling is 8:2). The rice ball was underdone (seems like newly taken out from the refrigerator and insufficiently cooked) and the black sesame filling was super thin/watery (it doesnt look fresh)..

In short, 1 star for this experience is definitely overrated. Worst tangyuan I...

Came here for some traditional desserts… food was average imo but I absolutely loved the fact that we’re dining at the side of the street (Angmo enjoy their hot chocolate facing the mountains/beach… and here we are enjoying dessert in front the traffic light)

We ordered: Peanut Butter : taste was rich and creamy really taste like peanut butter, sweeter than our liking 🥜 🧈 Tong Yuen : love how big they are, and the filling was delicious Barley Ginkgo Nut : loved the little barley bits and many ginkgo nuts, the piths were not removed so there’s a bitter taste when you bite into it Mongo Loh : huge portion, ice shaving was flaky and cooling 🤤 good to be shared as a group

Please smell the fried food/snacks before consume! The fried fish snack we ordered smells really bad. One of us tried it and the bad smell stays in the mouth! We are not sure if is the fish itself or something gone wrong with the food. Anyway good thing was the lady refunded the money after giving feedback to her about it. Before the refund, she claims that the fish was fresh.

K.T.Z has the best honeydew ice dessert but that was many years ago. Can understand that the pricing has increased over the years but the standard of the desserts has dropped significantly. Moreover the place really looks unhygienic and the tables are super near to each other.

Anyhow, their business is still very good but will need to twice twice before...
