📍 Ban Hong Xiang Tea House (formerly Bachang Dim Sum) 8, Jalan Kesidang 3/2, 75250 Melaka
🗓️ Mon, 30 June 2025 — There’s something magical about Melaka mornings when the sun’s just yawned awake and the scent of steamed dumplings dances in the air. Acting on a trusted friend’s recommendation, my wife and I decided to trade our pillows for plates and reached Ban Hong Xiang Tea House at the ungodly—but glorious—hour of 6:00 AM.
To our surprise (and secret delight), the dining hall was already half-full with fellow early birds—mostly retirees like ourselves—chirping over bamboo steamers and hot Chinese tea. The restaurant, bright and airy with a calming buzz, felt like a culinary sanctuary for breakfast enthusiasts.
We dove straight for our classic favourites: 🥟 Prawn Siew Mai – juicy, meaty, and satisfyingly springy. 🦐 Har Gao – delicate translucent parcels of prawn joy. 🐔 Braised Chicken Feet – savoury, tender, a gelatinous treat kissed by spice. 🐷 Steamed Pork Ribs – little bites of umami heaven, soft with a peppery tang. 🍚 Lor Mai Gai – glutinous rice with chicken, deeply fragrant and comforting. 🥣 Century Egg Porridge – smooth, warm and creamy with hints of nostalgia. 🥕 Fried Carrot Cake – golden and crisp outside, soft and flavourful within.
The service? 👏 Fast, cheerful, and efficient—no fuss, just friendly hustle. Prices were easy on the wallet too, especially given the satisfying portions and quality.
🚶♂️Parking, however, was a minor morning workout—doable with a 5-minute walk from a nearby lot. Consider it an appetite primer!

Went with a group of 8 adults, ordered pau, porridge, fried radish, you name it, they have it.
While they might not wow you with anything special, what they lack in flair, they make up with value.
With 8 pax and ordered pretty much everything, it only cost us RM 120, which is surprisingly cheap.
Something to note is that due to the crowd, it is better to come earlier to grab a table. Another thing to note is that the service might be lacking due to the crowd, it is advisable to go to the front and grab the...

The dimsum are not even hot to begin with. I am so disappointed. They still serve their 招牌豆腐,but nothing tastes the same anymore.
Siew mai just warm on the outside but when I bite into it it’s still normal temperature meaning they are not steamed throughout? Dimsum not being rotated regularly I waited so long for the dimsum to come Feels like they are selling just for the sake of selling that’s so sad The crowd is still here I guess but I don’t think I’ll patronise the...
