Famous Golden Seafood Restaurant — Restaurant in Malacca

First of all, all the people there are extremely rude to their customers. When we were ordering, they were condescending and acted like we do not know what we are ordering. We got through that part and ordered mixed vegetable curry, sweet & sour pork, deep fried salted egg sotong and sambal vegetables. The sweet & sour pork arrived first and it was fine, then the mix vegetables curry came after. After awhile the "deep fried salted egg sotong" came and it was not what I ordered. So we asked the waiter, she immediately said we are wrong and said this is what we ordered. We insisted that it is wrong but she kept repeating we are wrong and called another waiter over. We then showed a picture of that dish from we dined here last. He then again said we are wrong and said he has been working here a long time and he cannot be wrong and it is us who are wrong. We just ignored it and ask him to leave as he was going on and on blaming us. After awhile, while eating the mix vegetables curry, my wife found a worm on her plate. We both saw it move and immediately call the server over and tell them about it. The server took the plate and again said we are wrong and it just a piece of beehun and tried to walk away with the plate but my wife stop her and said I want to take a picture but she did not want to hand the plate over. So my wife grabbed the plate of out her hands and took the picture. At this point I was furious and just asked for the bill. I could see the owner of the store at the cashier talking to the waiters and she gave a angry look towards me as if this was all my fault. We left the place and we will not come back any more. I made a booking at 8pm. Reached the shop right at 8pm, but was told to wait as all the tables were taken. I saw the reservation card with my name on the counter and I questioned whether my table was taken, but was only told to wait. Then my siblings asked again and found that there were group who made reservations at 7pm came late and claimed the table which was supposed to be ours.

No apologies were given by any of the servant. From their faces I can tell they knew what happened and just trying to act blur. We were left indistinct. And from my observation it seems the kitchen has went chaotic causing confusion in the orders. We made a decision to leave the place without further hesitant.

If you can’t be assured of the reservation by customer, or if the table was given to others, pleases call customer ahead and apologize sincerely. Not by leaving client confused and wasting their time there....

Finally visited this trip after hearing much about it from other colleagues. Seems like a "go-to" place for them whenever they are in Malacca. Not quite in the city center but well assessible via private car or Grab hire. We arrived at the restaurant at about 7pm on a week day. The restaurant was about a third filled. Once seated, the staff will immediately stand beside your table and wait for your order. We had the fried fish soup, pumpkin tofu and a serving of vegetables. While the restaurant was not entirely crowded, our food took a while to be served. Once I tasted the fish soup, I understood immediately why the colleagues keep coming back. With a slight hint of spice, the soup was very tasty. I did not entirely fancy the fried fish though.. The tofu and vegetables were good though not highlight of the meal.
