Alhamdulillah, honestly it was a very last minute road trip with my friend to Port Dickson by riding a motorcycle. No itinerary and what not, but I guess through the time where we were roaming around the beach. We managed to make a plan on trying the seafood around PD Waterfront. Instead, we ended up by eating at Medan Ikan Bakar Majlis Perbandaran Port Dickson @ Saturday, 8pm.
We randomly chose stall no.3, because the ambience was just so nice, beautiful and peaceful. Stall no.1 seafoods looked pale and not as fresh as others. Mind you, Restoran Terapung D'Jetty behind was full at the time. Hm, maybe we can try them soon? Anywho, we were satisfied with our foods from stall no.3. For table for 2, did we eat a lot? You can say that.
[What did we order?] Ikan siakap bakar (with a glaze of their special sambal on top) RM49 Sotong masak kicap (seekor sahaja sebab besar) RM19 Udang L masak butter (7pcs - surprisingly they cooked the milky butter instead of the dry kind of butter, but still good tho!) RM39 4x Nasi putih 2x Teh ais (mangkuk) TOTAL: RM117 (Cheap lah liao!)
[Did we experience any issue while we were there?] Their service was a bit slow, I am not sure why.. luckily the crowd was not much. Perhaps, there was a lot of order? I find that the parking lot was spacious, but looking back to that night. Maybe we were just lucky cause we came by a motorcycle instead of a car. So be sure to plan ahead to come at what time, I think it can be as crowd as what other people had already stated in each review from previous times. This is my personal review, I do not know what was the purpose of a busker to be there playing the instrument and singing. To me, the sound of the ocean breeze, the aeolian sound from the wind, the chit chatting from table to another table were already sufficient. Plus, the music was played too loud, so jiwang and so sad for what? We barely here each other talking on the same table. Imagine...
Nevertheless, will we ever come back to...
Read morePort Dickson is more than just a tourist-friendly destination. In fact, this coastal district in Negeri Sembilan is also known as a home to delicious ikan bakar (grilled fish) varieties. So, if you love grilled fish, you’ve definitely coming to the right place! But here lies an all-important question: where to find the best grilled fishes around the Port Dickson area? Lucky for you, we have narrow it down and here goes!
Samudra Ikan Bakar
Situated within the complex of Medan Ikan Bakar Majlis Perbandaran Port Dickson (MPPD), Samudra Ikan Bakar offers a variety of fresh seafood ranging from fish to lobster. Local favourites such as pari (stingray) and cencaru are among the most sought-after fishes here made for grilling
goes without saying that Restoran Seri Mesra is particularly famous for their ikan bakar (grilled fish) varieties. Here, you can choose to savour the grilled fish with white rice or fragrant nasi lemak. The fish is grilled to charred perfection and packed with enough spices. Also, don’t forget to dip the grilled fish with the accompanied sambal belacan for that extra oomph of flavour!
Two words: pari bakar. Otherwise known as grilled stingray, the fish is perfectly charred on the outside and moist on the inside. Not to mention, the fish meat is juicy and packed with lots of flavours. Served with two dipping sauces, it’s a definite must-try when you dine in this well-known local...
Read moreUsed to be a lively, must-visit spot in PD. Now it’s more like a forgotten chapter from a tourism brochure. The once-popular Restoran Terapung D'Jetty? Closed down. What’s left is just two stalls hanging on near the front entrance, giving serious 'last ones standing' energy.
Aku ordered ikan masak tiga rasa. okay lah, boleh diterima. Not amazing, but edible. But the grilled fish? Disappointing. Dry, bland, and lacking that smoky, charred flavour you’d expect from ikan bakar. Honestly, it felt like they just went through the motions.
Environment? Unkempt and sad 😫 Toilet? Only one cubicle working. Squatting type. Tersumbat. Kotor 🤮. Not suitable at all for elderly visitors or anyone with mobility issues. Bring your own tissue… and patience.
Kesimpulan? Tempat ni macam dah mati lepas RMK-10. No upkeep, no crowd, and sadly, no soul left. What used to be a seafood haven is now just a reminder that things fall apart when no one cares. Once a gem, now a ghost. Skip this place unless you’re here purely for nostalgia, and even then, prepare to be...
