Samudra Ikan Bakar Hj Fared Bin Hj Masrom — Restaurant in Negeri Sembilan

One of the many popular makan place in PD or Port Dickson. The location is just nice for an evening (sunset) dinner and it's usually packed by this time, especially during weekends. Food and service is so-so but we like the ikan bakar, just nicely done. I specifically requested for fish to be seasoned with salt and pepper only as this is the only way to enjoy a fresh fish without it being overwhelmed by all the spices and sambal. The sambal was served as a dip and it's sweet spicy taste really enhances the freshness of the fish. The veggies are the usual fare, nothing to shout about but they should not run out of fresh coconut. Location-wise, we arrived during sunset so as you can see the view was breathtaking. The restaurant was located at a pier facing the sea. Although it was quite windy as well throughout our dining experience.

Food-wise, I think the food were decently priced for a tourist area. There were lots of fresh fish available to choose from.

But coming from Banting which is also near the sea, we would say that the taste was average. We have tasted grilled fish with better sambal paste in Banting. And I think grilled fish would be better paired with air asam rather than sambal kicap.

Wow the Interlaken fish was so fresh you can taste its sweetness. Nice mixture of flavours too. Love the crispiness of the Shinkanzen fish, highly recommend that. The prawns were fresh and big, we had udang goreng Nestum which was nice also. The sotong goreng tepung was just average though. I would recommend adding more ulam to the menu.
