The food is nice given the fair price except that the Chuka kurage is too salty. But the service is kinda bad. Looking at the crowd and the price, I honestly didn't expect the service to be top-notch, but some of the workers were unacceptably lazy and inattentive.
Firstly, one of the items from my order was missed. Since everything else was already served, so I checked with one of the waiters for that. He replied perfunctorily that it was being prepped without even checking. When I checked again with another waiter after awhile, then only he told me that they missed it, so it was not included in the order list to the kitchen. Lol.
Secondly, I ordered hot tea for drink. Again, it wasn't served even after the food was served. I asked a waiter and even pointed it out on my handwritten order paper, he then nodded and walked away and never came back. Since the chuka kurage was too salty, I asked another waiter for the drink. He saw my order and explained that I wrote it in the wrong row (though it stated 'Tea' there lol). I just wondered why both the waiter who took my order and the one whom I previously checked my order with didn't say anything about it at all. And the taste of tea was awful.
Thirdly, the restaurant closes at 10pm on weekends (based on Google) but they started to clean around 935pm which included cleaning the windows. The strong odour of detergent made us feel as if we were eating in the toilet.
Lastly, the table was quite sticky and the toilet was very smelly. The tissue papers turned yellowish after I wiped the table, so I doubt if they wipe it before serving new customers.
I truly understand that we are humans and we make mistakes especially after a long day at work, so I seldom make complaints. But this time I think the problem is their attitudes. No passion. No sorry. No smile. I even saw some of them busy chit-chatting in the corner while some were diligently doing their job.
Nevertheless, I wanna compliment the waiter who thoughtfully gave us a pair of chopsticks when we asked him to pack the leftovers. Unfortunately, out of 4/5 waiters we met, only 1 was helpful and friendly.
I will consider to take away next time, but definitely...
Read moreI am their customer long time ago from the previous location to this new location, almost every month i will dine in once. Previous location limited staff, waited for long time to be entertained. New outlet was nice, until today i found their hygiene becomes very terrible.
The table is not well clean and sanitised, as i can see food residues left, but i am fine, they have tissue, i clean myself again, i am fine. But i am going to list down some which made me feel uncomfortable. Soy sauce plate with sushi "sauce" on it (ok, i am thinking maybe previous customers accidentally make it) The cup come with satu biji ebiko for free (ok, i am thinking mayb the staff just took sushi for other customer accidentally stick onto the cup) Order normal sushi, and then served with used plate! I ordered 2 set of tamago sushi, but why both of their plate full with oily surface? It makes me feel like they are using USED plate and serve to customer again. (so disgusting)
Nowadays always long queue outside their restaurant, maybe they failed to manage their hygiene due to heavy loaded work. I think this is not right.
Above are my opinion and you maybe you feel different, welcome to experience yourself. Their food very nice actually, but i would choose to takeaway next time if i deeply desperately...

Date of Visit: Apr 2025
Ambiance: Been to Sushi Mentai a couple of times. Plenty of places to sit and park during non peak hours, but can get crowded during peak hours, and require to take number to dine in.
Service: Order meals via QR code placed on table, and there’s a rotary sushi setup as well. The food gets served quite fast and the wait staffs helpful as well.
Food and Drinks: My go to favorite is usually Kitsune Soba, Agedashi Tofu, Salmon Mentayaki and Green tea for drinks. And then, finish up with some sushi as mood dictates.
Value for Money: The pricing ranges from moderate to expensive, but it's definitely worth it for the quality and taste.
Overall Experience: I rate my experience 4/5. The meal and service is good, just thinking of need to queue during peak hour is abit troublesome. I usually go during non peak hours.
Would I return? Yes, definitely. It’s one of my favorite sushi restaurants, especially with their sushi choices. I also enjoy the light broth of...
