The Muffin House — Restaurant in Negeri Sembilan

Went for lunch today to celebrate my sister's birthday and we were really disappointed with the food. Since my mom was a vegetarian, she had less than 10 items to choose from and she ended up choosing sweet sour mocked chicken bento. Sadly my mom couldn't even finish eating it cause the sweet sour sauce tasted like plain ketchup and the sides given, raw edamame, fried enoki mushroom and pickled radish didn't add any flavour to the bento.

The butter milk chicken bento had good portions of chicken but it leaves you too full. Tried raw edamame for the first time and that would be my last time for sure.

Egg fried rice with popcorn chicken tasted like stir fried white rice with egg and soy sauce. There was no other flavour in that fried rice but only popcorn chicken to accompany it. Not to forget the small portion of fried rice that didn't suit the price but for how bland it tasted, we'd rather have that small portion.

Nasi lemak ayam goreng although had a big portion and tasted nice, the two big papadom and two big fried chicken thighs will leave you too full and uneasy.

The only two good things we had was the banana ice cream waffle and the mushroom soup with garlic bread. Those were the only food that made my mom happy after the really bad meals we had.

We chose Muffin House for our lunch because few months ago, they had a different menu which had wider vegetarian options and they served such good food only to be disappointed this time by the new menu and really bad meals.

This will be our last time visiting...

Pros: Good ambience

Cons: The foods are fancy but the taste just average and some below average. The ladyboss was extremely rude in that, she cannot take constructive criticism when we very politely offered a feedback about the seaweed fried rice being extremely salty to the extent that it was unpalatable. She defended the chef whom she claimed was her husband, and insisted that the fried rice was salty because it is how it is (mind you, we paid for it! and we didn't ask for discount! We merely want to offer a constructive feedback). She even told us to "get use" to the loud slamming of the door because her workers are man and man are like this and we as the customer just have to get use to it. The way she had her guard up and acting all defensive was a huge turn off! We will never patron this restaurant anymore.

Ladyboss, you could have just offered us a simple apology and not acted all guard up! We didn't owe you anything, we came here, we paid, we were polite and we just want to have a good time. Well, wish you...

Has the owner stopped monitoring quality of this cafe? Or just installed 6 units CCTV is sufficient to monitor the quality of food? Matcha Red Beans served in Single-use plastic cups? What was the owner thinking?

And to surprise us more, the plastic cup is only Half-use by filling and serving us (4 of us ordered) with half a cup despite charging RM13++. It’s a rip off, don’t ever order Matcha Red Beans.

What you see is not what you get. WYSISWYG! I never thought of getting 2 surprises with a meal that I ordered, I present to you: The Pesto Salmon, at first I was all stunned to look at what was served. It has bits of mushrooms /tomatoes/walnuts on top of the Pasta. After I struggled to find any bits of meat, I was certain that it’s a vegetarian version. So I asked the waiter to check. And later another waiter came back to tell me that this is actually a Pesto Salmon. But they’re all Minced beyond detection.
