Frustrating Experience — Overpriced, Overhyped, and Poorly Managed
I chose this place based on the positive reviews, but unfortunately, it did not live up to expectations.
Poor customer flow management: We walked in and were told to return in an hour as they were full. Fine. We came back as instructed, were seated — but then waited another full hour for our food. No one bothered to take our orders in advance or even warn us that food prep would take that long. This could’ve easily been avoided with better communication and basic foresight.
Cold, bland food: When the food finally arrived, it was neither hot nor flavorful. For a place hyped for its cuisine, the dishes lacked depth, seasoning, and overall quality. It left us wondering what exactly people are raving about.
Low-effort drinks: The hot chocolate tasted like a cheap instant mix — served in a tiny cup — definitely not worth the price. I could get better for less at any nearby café.
Service was indifferent at best: After our meal, we asked for the bill — and were left waiting 15 minutes with no follow-up. Eventually, we gave up and went to the counter to pay. Staff seemed either overwhelmed or disinterested.
Ridiculously overpriced: For what was served, the price per plate is outrageous. Bland food, slow service, and inflated pricing under the guise of “international cuisine”? It feels dishonest. If you're going to charge that much, at least deliver on quality and experience.
regret choosing this place over the others in the vicinity and this experience didn’t just make me want to avoid this restaurant — it made me not want to come back to Fraser’s Hill at all. If this is one of the top-rated places in town, it doesn’t reflect well on the...
Read moreOur second time here since 11 years ago. So I was dreading the worst still as back then I had to wait 2 hours for my dinner! This time around, serving time has improved tremendously!
We ordered the following:- Spaghetti beef bolognaise - pasta was overcooked while the bolognaise sauce lacked aromatics and flavor. It was extremely oily too. Stuffed Irish chicken - can't make out what it was stuffed with as I could not identify the flavorless stuffing. Deepfried to a crisp golden brown at best. Served with a white creamy sauce which again was tasteless. Chicken nuggets & fries - Chefs attempt at making home made nuggets failed as the child who ordered it rejected it and only ate the fries. Goes to show how bad it was done.
Overall, in the 11 years since the last time we were here, food has never improved. Nevertheless, service has up to a certain point.
Plus side would be the old world charm that the restaurant has. Otherwise it would have been a huge letdown. I wish restaurant/cafe operators would strive a whole lot harder to serve better food. All I have had was nothing but one disappointing dining experience after another during my 3d2n stay in Fraser's Hill. Even the roadside rojak and cendol stall didn't do a good job...
Read moreWe were contemplating to eat here or at Ye Olde Smokehouse but ended up here as the latter is too pricey for a huge family like ours. I must say that it wasn’t a bad decision at all.
We had their Fish & Chips, Grilled Dory, Pumpkin Soup (soup of the day), Fried Chicken, homemade cakes and more.
Not a single dish disappointed us. Their homemade tartar sauce was a bonus for those crispy beer battered fish. Every single dish, including the fries/wedges on the side were freshly prepared by them.
To add on to our pleasant dinner experience, our host, Mokter, was such an excellent host. He never failed us with his recommendations and his service.
To sum it up, come here if you’re looking to enjoy a gastronomic experience of traditional British food at very reasonable prices.
I’m looking forward to a bigger variety on the menu, that is similar to the smokehouse but with the prices maintained at a...
