I browsed and found this seafood restaurant so I went and try out. I saw many reviews, I was confused, reviews is quite good but not really in reality. Many written good price, if compare with Kl, sure here is slightly lower. Bring more cash, don't expect just bring rm300, bring rm600~
I went on 21 May 2018. Below is my orders, drinks only Chinese tea. We're 5 adults.
Crab price minimum rm100/kg, many places averagely is rm60/kg. I ordered spicy fried 金乡I expect is quite dry and tasty, but it's wet and very salty. Rated 4/10
Fish, siakap with sour spicy steam. Most of this dish in Penang, even kl they usually put on chili padi with lime sauce, clear and delicious. But in here they put on thick gravy. The fish not fresh like many seafood restaurant around Penang and Perak. Rated 4/10
Home fried tofu not bad but sauce to dip not nice, just cheap sauce can get at mini market. Rated 3/10
Ĺuo hon zhai (mix vegetables with gravy) oh this I think I fried so much better, it's just like vegetables from economy rice. Totally regret. Rated 1/10
Fu Yong fried egg. Most terrible fu Yong fried egg I seen, since it's halal, so no pork. Actually original fu Yong fried egg sure got char siew (bbq pork) , prawn, onions. But this they use mushroom to replace the pork, my god. Why not use chicken? Still better than mushroom which makes the egg wet, lost appetite. Rated 1/10
Lemon chicken. I expect it looks great, but once came just fried chicken, looks so plain, haha.. And a small bowl of sauce, oh too cincai. Taste just like normal fried, just swallow as don't want to waste. Rated 1/10
Fried rice. The rice too soft, maybe some people like, just I prefer not too soft. Taste average, at least can put in mouth but don't expect so nice, or else dissapointed. Rated 2/10.
Mee hoon, Salty fish fried. I think most of the people eaten this 咸鱼米粉 as it's famous, Chai Leng Park market selling good, too delicious just rm2.50 per pack, so I thought it's an easy job for this seafood restaurant to fried it! But only feel salty.. So if anyone going please try other type like Singapore fried, maybe better? Rated 2/10.
Free lance satay. This selling outside, but can bring in, just order and the Malay guy will serve. Chicken skin's.. Fatty.. Meat little and not so nice, eat one stick is enough. Satay Kuah OK. Rated 5/10 (best satay I eaten also just nearby, but not this. That one still in bgn ajam, Malay lady sell, eaten 10, I still pack 10 back, too delicious, just nearby by this restaurant)
Good luck, be wise...
Read moreIt was a fruitful meeting. We arrived at the destination on time and discussed about the possibility of business collaboration. By the time we finished, we realised that we had little time left to check in and prepare for the dinner. Throwing my luggage on the bed and quickly refreshed myself, we went down to the lobby only to be greeted by my customer who then drove us to the dinner place.
Again.. I remember coming here for the first time with the same customer many years ago. What used to be a reclaimed land along Jalan Pantai Bersih has turned into a row of supposedly illegal structures that house many seafood restaurants. It is the place to go to enjoy the night view of Penang Island while enjoying the dinner.
The panaromic night view and night breeze makes it an ideal place to enjoy your seafood alfresco style. I thought that since it was weekday the crowd would be lesser but boy I was so wrong. Our intended destination was full house so we had to walk next door instead. ◾Thai style pork knuckle - this dish is really something.. crispy skin, moist meat and killer chilly dipping sauce. Like a primeval creature, I polished everything until all was left is bone. ◾Steamed red snapper - nice steaming technique but I couldn't help but to rue that the fish was reared instead of wild. The flesh was not as firm ◾Chilly crab - fresh crab with the juice literally dropping as I cracked the shell. Love the balanced flavour of the sauce. ◾ Salted egg mantis shrimp - the salted egg tasted weird a bit ... ◾4 heavenly king - nothing much to complain
There were hits and misses but overall a good dinner as the company was good and we chatted until past the...
Read moreWow, what a memorable dining experience at Restoran Nelayan Ah Chong. Truly one for the books! First, let me applaud the creativity of their menu — not because of the variety, but because most of it is “imaginary.” Want some chili? Sorry, even the tiny little chili is apparently a luxury item here.
Then comes the masterpiece of service: food delivery that could win awards for suspense and patience training. Two dishes arrived early (yay!), and then… silence. We waited, triggered the waitress multiple times like hitting a broken doorbell, but nothing worked. Eventually, more dishes came crawling out from the kitchen like a rare sighting of an endangered species.
To be fair, the environment is actually excellent — so nice that you can sit there comfortably while starving and waiting for your food to appear. Bravo for that balance!
In conclusion, 5 stars for testing my endurance, 0 stars for service. Definitely not coming back, unless I want to practice my patience for a...
