Have heard much about this place, but have not visited before. Dining experience is not bad, attendant is friendly but they are too busy. Although interior is abit nostalgic, but this is also their plus point of lesser crowd of diners. Ordered Top Taste’s Sizzling Chicken with choice of top up $7 for a set meal (main course plus soup, drink (white coffee) or one scoops ice cream as dessert). I like the Baker Fish Ala Top more as the sauce used level up the umami of the food. The special sauce was a surprise, it taste just nice flavored and not too salty. Sizzling plater is using black pepper sauce. Good choice to top up the main course with set meal. Ending a good meal with sweet never fails. Although their orders are quite busy (dine in & delivery), you may enjoy more time seated in this nice ambiance restaurant. Worth an update on their Weekday Set Lunch offer please support — back again in June 23- You can always be sure of their food taste standard and portion. Come early before 12pm to avoid the lunch crowd. Tried their ginger onion chicken with rice, it’s surprising good. The savory taste with fried ginger and onion bring out the taste of the stirred fried chicken. Yums. Do give their oriental menu a try, you may find...
Read moreI suppose the closest I can describe this is a homey restaurant serving old school cooking style of western and oriental dishes. Not fusion. The demarcation between their dishes are clear. Their menu is ridiculously extensive for a place of this genre. Incredibly varied and not much boredom factor even if you dine here regularly.
The best descriptive general term for their dishes is generous. Their portions are filling and their price, imo is more than fair. Their decor is simple and functional. Nothing over the top.
As for the dishes, I absolutely loved their char hor fun. Perfectly starchy and superbly flavoured, together with excellently cooked hor fun, I think this is one of their best dishes. However I found the crab meat soup and Hawaiian grilled chicken fairly average. Good but not exceptional.
In general, it's an excellent place to have a simple family dinner that has well portioned standard dishes priced fairly. Parking places during dinner is also quite easy to find as there are many slots in the...
Read moreFamily dinner on 2 Nov at 6.30pm. It's was already crowded.
An unexpected experience of yummy western food n beverages. As I was not hungry I opted for tomato soup n dinner roll. It's was really really yummy. Not too sour perfecto I would say. The other family members went on to have fish burger - this was a standard dish but a big serving though. The top chef sizzling chicken chop which also had 1 oyster, 1 big prawn n a slice of fish too is not to be missed. Another item which was yummy was the pesto spaghetti which is accompanied by slice of fried fish. We also tried the grilled fish which was equally good.
The menu also caters to vegetarians so not to worry if you are a vegetarian.
An unassuming place with reasonable pricing. For those who wish to have great western food, a family get together, this is the place to go if you are at the Penang mainland. A place not to miss. I will definitely come back when I come...
