Stopped by Anson hainan kopitiam, built from an old house with nanyang retro, rustic interior, during our visit to teluk intan. The shop is decorated with nostalgic items (cutleries, toys, tins) that were trendy a few decades ago. We arrived around 12:30 and there was already a queue for tables. The shop was packed and busy, but the staff remained attentive and friendly. We eventually found a table ourselves as we weren’t seated although there are some empty tables, perhaps the restaurant is short handed.
For food, We had bihun goreng with curry ayam, hokkien mee and pan mee along with Cham and kopi o and cendol.
The food were great, it surprised me how generous the portions were for such reasonable price. The curry chicken was chef’s kiss, it was so smooth and tender. Drinks were decent, but the cendol was a little disappointing. The shaved ice(?) was too hard, like an ice cube, and didn’t melt even after we finished our food. It’s sweet, but overall still feel lacking.
Overall I would say the restaurant is worth a try, just look at how many people are...
Read moreMy wife and baby daughter came here for breakfast on Sunday, 3.11.2024. We had a very nice experience here:-
Food was very good. I had the steamed bread (wholemeal) which was done perfectly. I also had the nasi lemak ayam rempah which was delicious - the chicken was cooked to perfection. The portion of sambal was less and should be increased. My wife had the chicken chop and polo bun which were nice.
Ambience is nice and the kopitiam had a nice old school feel to it. There weren’t that many people when we arrived. Service was good.
It’s a no pork, no lard restaurant.
There are other items on the menu which seem interesting which I would like to try next time I’m in Teluk Intan such as the sesame oil chicken rice.
Parking is in front of the restaurant itself.
Prices wise, it’s a bit like in KL so it is a little high. But value for money.
Overall, would come again if in...
Read moreWe visited here on Nov 2022. On top of the traditional style decorations, a little bit of Christmas flair was introduced that fit in quite well. Most people who enjoy the historical atmosphere is sure to enjoy this kopitiam. There are spots where you can grab lovely photos outside, inside and upstairs. The tables are situated in a spacious manner. The interior is very clean 5/5.
A quick review of the food: Penang Laksa 4/5, Dry noodles with Hainanese Chiecken 1/5, Roti Bakar 5/5, Potato Wedges 3/5, Coffees were average 3/5.
The only downside was the speed we could order our food possibly due to how spacious it is and it wasn't peak hour.
Overall, nice ambience for afternoon tea & gossiping. (Mum's...
