We opted for a rice meal by walking to the food spread. Ample choices, obviously, some sort of the same food idea and concept as Yarl Restaurant, Brickfields. Meaning, curries in earthen pots. Additionally, you get the same piping hot fried there and then fried stuffs. Notably, I only noticed fish and chicken though. We picked up our choices of dishes, which we self scoop over the plate of rice.
Returning back to our table in this rather plain and simple ambiance, we decided to top up. A plate of mutton varuval/dry style and chicken parathal/dry style. Anyway, let me tell you. There's really not much of a difference between Asian Rice Pot and other similar Indian eateries. Nothing much, honestly, I didn't notice any unique or different dishes. We had also called for our drinks and these had already arrived by the we tucked into our meal.
What's my say on Asian Rice Pot? Mutton Parathal fared quiet okay. Soft tender easily chewable meat in a tasty thick spicy gravy/curry, cooked alongside the customary spices and chillies. However, it lacked the spicy kick I am accustomed to. Even my friends agreed with me. Thank god. The Chicken varuval, another common fare was a decent dish though I won't give it a hype. Basically, just ordinary. The rest of the side items we tucked into were decently elevated too.
Now, lemme tell you about the drinks. Thick, creamy and slushy Mango Lassi did wonder on my tongue. Love it. Pure and authentic. Lemongrass Lemon Ice was praise by my friend. Then again, what can go wrong as long you get to taste the citrusy and lemony infuses. Tea Tarik of course was appreciated. Always will be after a spicy Indian meal. This not overly sweet tea must be credited.
Was it worth me coming over all the way from Shah Alam. Sincerely, I could have had such a meal somewhere close by my area. Even so, I'll take this food venture as my blogging experience. That's it. Wonder why my friends had to speak highly about Asian Rice Pot? Because of the owner and their close friendship?...
Read moreOn 21st Jan, I have ordered two meals from this restaurant for lunch through Grabfood: Chicken and fish meals with drinks. I have tried their chicken meal before and that’s why I ordered again this time. It was unfortunate this time.
Firstly, chicken meal was spoilt. The weird smell of the chicken was overwhelming. I had to keep the chicken aside.
Secondly, I have ordered fish meal and put a note to pack a fried tenggiri fish. Instead they packed a different fish and it had a strong smell. We didn’t eat it. The restaurant should clearly state in their menu the type of fish they serve with this meal. With that, customer will be able to pick. If at all, they don’t have such fish they should inform their customer through message. Do not pack anything that they like for the customer!
Lastly, these meals come with drinks. I put a note to pack hot drinks not cold yet no instructions were taken carefully and seriously. Both drinks were cold with ice cubes.
We were extremely disappointed with their service and food. We were starving and wanting to eat an Indian food. Surely we will not buy any food from this place and will never recommend to anyone!
I demanded for a refund for two meals at least for the fish and chicken because we didn’t eat. However, the issue was not solved and Grab is giving unreasonable explanation - unacceptable! We had a bad experience and just want to share. I hope the restaurant will take this issue seriously and avoid from losing...
Read moreFor me, the price isn't that cheap as some people claiming, especially for lunch meals.
I like their breakfast meal varieties. Their idiyappam so soft as home made. Thosai is not bad. Their lunch varieties quite a lot, but taste wise I would say above average but still below good. I feel like they are charging quite expensive for lunch meals. Their dinner varieties is pretty much same as what they offer for breakfast. And some left over of lunch meals varieties. Oh yeah, off course they do offer goreng2 meals. Drinks OK.
I will give higher vote for their staff. Really pleasant and helpful. They never show sulky face so far, no matter how many times you call them. Even they show smiley face when you have some 'do and dont's' in your order.
Cleanliness is quite good also.
My final verdict, even though their food not so impressive to be rated as the best, but they are still far more better than some neighborhood similar restaurants.
So overall, out of 10, I will rate as...
