PJ's Neighbourhood cafe in quiet location.
Of all the places in PJ, Section 5 is probably the least that I've gone to before. Located off Jalan Gasing somewhere in between PJ Old Town and Pantai Dalam, I utilised the GPS technology to bring me all the way to this cafe.
Taking up the corner of a stretch of shoplots, the cafe is bright, spacious with alfresco section at the corner section. It feels quite homey and cosy once inside the cafe as a matter of fact. Tables are nicely spaced out, they have bean bags and settees for the kids to have fun while playing board games, meanwhile the adult eat or engage in conversations.
◾English Breakfast - for RM20 (at the time of consuming), I'd got myself grilled sausage, sauteed mushroom, roasted tomatoes, crispy bacon, an egg, baked beans & toast. Not exactly prettiest on the plate, more like those cooked at home but executed nicely. ◾Sunrise bowl with scrambled eggs, sauteed sausages, fresh cherry tomatoes and toasts in one bowl was one confort bowl for the kids to scoop with the spoon and eat just like that. ◾Egg in A Hole - thick brioche slice toast with butter, bacon, capsicum & cheddar cheese sprinkle + an egg in the middle. Kids will like the idea of this particular dish. ◾Nasi lemak bungkus was a complete basic package with fragrant coconut rice. Sambal however slightly on the spicy side so take note. ◾Coffee is supplied by Puro and it could use more kick.

Read moreUpdate: we came to give them a second chance. We had the fish and chips. A generous slice of fish in a very dark crispy batter. It tastes good. The deal killer was an irritating fly hovering around from my food and perched on my glass and Mayo dish
we came to eat at this new discovery. We had the fish and chips and the all day nasi lemak with chicken rendang and dessert of butter cake with a scoop of ice cream.
the fish and chips came with a pleasantly large slice of fish. fish was tasty. the batter however was a little "burnt" as it had dark hue. the texture was also a little chewy. lost marks for the colour.
the nasi lemak had a green hue. we were not keen on the colour. the sambal was a little sweet but still acceptable. the chicken rendang seemed to be something cobbled together. it appeared to be fried chicken that had been added to rendang rempah then cooked again. the rempah was a little undercooked and had a raw taste.
dessert was butter cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. a lovely slice of warm butter cake that was fragrant and moist. vanilla ice cream was icy - we could feel the icy texture when we put our spoon into it. the taste was good, but it wasn't a wow.
the atmosphere was cosy with folks sat in the sofas around. there was a table of nick knacks for sale. they were also...
Read moreUsed to love the food here. But ever since the menu changed it's been so disappointing. I don't think the small menu choice isn't the issue, but I think it's an unwise selection choice. Anyhow, not the point of my review.
PLEASE do not order the pizza. Spend a few more ringgit and go to a proper pizza place. We ordered one (I think the Romano pizza? asked for no anchovy fillet though because I think that's an odd pairing) alongside pasta as a last resort because my parents didn't know what to order and those seemed like the safest choices on the menu- they were going to share them together.
What came to us was a Mission wrap from the grocery store with cheese and tomatoes. Not even proper dough, just what seemed like a frozen wrap you use for soft tacos. It wasn't even a very big wrap-reminded me of a childhood snack my mother used to make. How do you justify charging 26 ringgit for what looks like a sad college meal? Was worth 15 ringgit at most. Could make it myself for a fraction of the price.
Still disappointing and left still hungry. Miss what this...
