More than half-century-old mixed pork offal porridge stall which has been serving good tasty porridge to warm the hearts, souls and stomachs of generations of folks is still going strong in Selera Jati food centre in Jalan 1/12, PJ Old Town.
May very well be the porridge stall with the longest history in the country.
Mr Leong started selling pork offal porridge at the age of 24 at Kee Hup bus terminal (the present McDonald's) not far from Selera Jati food centre. That was 58 years ago.
The business moved here more than three decades ago.
Today, the business is being carried on by his wife and daughter assisted by Mr Leong's younger brother. Mr Leong stays at home due to his legs ailment.
A bowl of flavourful porridge filled with a potpourri of tasty pork offal and innards costs only RM5.00.
You can also add a portion of Chinese cruller (youtiao) @ RM1.00 for a more classical and nostalgic meal.
Other delicacies on the menu are pork offal soup, chicken porridge, fish porridge and chicken rice. All at such reasonable prices that you can hardly find elsewhere.
Of course, I'll go back for more. Soon!
Business Hours: 3pm-830pm Closed every...
