This restaurant is deceptively plain seen from its front facade. As you step through the glass doors in front, you will be pleasantly greeted with a brightly lit hall that hosts a comfortable spread of big (10-12 pax) to mid-size (5-6 pax) to cosy (2-4 pax) tables. Beyond this hall is a second hall that can easily accommodate another 20 more tables for 10. In an annexe by the first hall is a bank of water-filled tanks that features live fish that would be served up in a jiffy upon customers' orders.
The menu is wide n varied enough for even the most particular diner. The several (10 so far I've tried) tried so far have been served closely mirroring the luscious pictures shown in the menu. This in itself is commendable. So often I've been served dishes that bear little resemblance to the pictures in the menu.
The seafood tried so far have been fresh n well-cooked. Tastes are sufficiently balanced without being overpowering. The steamed fresh-water fish head was delectable. Flesh firm n sweet with a light complementary sauce. The deep fried shrimps were crispy and would have been a great accompaniment to a cold, cold beer had it not been snapped up quite so quickly by my fellow diners.
My two visits were devoted to rice-centric dishes. My next would explore their wide array of noodles. First up would be their Sarng Har Yee Meen.
Parking is fairly easy - right out front of the restaurant n in the open air car park beside the Indian temple there.
Two final observations - the service was fast n attentive and, importantly, the food prices were fair...
Read moreRestoran Twelve Road was located several shops down the road from the famous Ah Sang Bak Kut Teh in Sungai Way (Seri Setia).
We ordered the following food:
Petai with Minced Pork. RM22 (Small) Braised Homemade Bean Curd with Bean Curd Sheet. RM14 (S) Stir Fried Kangkung with Shrimp Paste. RM12 (S) Fried Shrimp Omelette. RM16 (S) Pork Liver And Kidney in Wine Soup. RM25 (S) Braised Pork Knuckle. RM28 (S) Deep Fried Pork Intestine. RM18 (S) Stir Fried Pork Intestine with Dried Shrimp. RM18 (S)
Food was decent but three dishes stood out - the stir-fried Petai with Minced Pork, Pork Liver and Kidney in Wine Soup, and Si. The amount of petai given was generous, equal in amount to the minced meat. What we had seen in other restaurants was where petai was part of the ingredients of a dish, the portion of petai was much less compared to the rest as petai was expensive. The size of the liver and kidney cuts was just right for chewing and savouring and was well cooked to the right tenderness. The wine soup (probably rice wine) was a superb accompaniment. For the Stir Fried Pork Intestine with Dried Shrimp, the intestine was crunchy with no “stink.’
The total cost was RM181 for the seven of us or RM25.86 per person. The price...
Read moreMenu Items well if the roasted pork has run out, we would really appreciate that the restaurant to inform us in advanced else why did we even need to order in advanced and then we got informed LAST minute that the roasted pork has run out or not available? It is very misleading that it seems like we cannot order anything else without booking the menu? Will strongly suggest to remove the need to book the menu in advanced as we nvr needed to order anything in advanced for normal chinese restaurant dinner, why is only this restaurant needing customer to order in advanced? We do understand sometimes you may need to preserve the ingredient but what is the point of advanced booking the menu if customers can be informed last minute that your booked menu is not available?
Service The lady staff is super unfriendly, it is you working in the restaurant and not me, please point your customer to the table to the direction instead of expecting us to know where the table is and showing an annoyed face it can be our fault if there is last minute change number of people, but when there is a last minute unforseen change, please refrain from showing your annoyed face, you don't owe me and I...
