This most definitely has to be the best and most authentic Penang Style Mee Goreng Sotong. There used to be a few pretenders to the crown but some started well with pedigree like Bangkok Lane Ori Mee Goreng in PJ but they didnt last the distance. So now the only one with Gelugor Mee Goreng pedigree has rightly taken the lead position. With due respect, it was quite an anticlimax having heard so much about the place and with recommendation to boot. Nothing extraordinary about the sotong repertoire as they all - mee rebus, mee goreng - tasted rather bland. Perhaps they've been trying too hard to replicate the success of their Penang origin here in Kota Damansara. As the famous lager ad once said, the water in Majorca don't taste like what it ought to - say it with a cockney accent tho! Yes, what Penang makes can only be original in Penang and nowhere else. I like their mee rebus which is typical Penang style, not Johor. The mee rebus kuah is not sweet, not too rich/spicy - just nice. Infact I tell mamak pls don't add any sotong gravy to my mee rebus bcs I like the pure kuah made from ubi keledek, crushed peanuts and other ingredients. One plate biasa 6rgt.
