Makan Heritage Kota Damansara — Restaurant in Petaling Jaya

I recently dined at Makan Heritage, Kota Damansara, and honestly, I was quite disappointed with the pricing transparency and service.

I ordered Nasi Goreng Cina, which is clearly stated in the menu as RM7.90. Since I was feeling hungry and expected the portion to be small, I requested for nasi tambah (extra rice). Before confirming, I asked the waiter how much the additional rice would cost — but he said he didn’t know, and that “the system will calculate.”

I went ahead and ate since I was really hungry. The taste was just moderate, even though I asked for spicy (pedas) but it came out like kids’ taste. That’s still fine.

However, when I paid, I was shocked to see the Nasi Goreng Cina charged at RM13.90 — a RM6 difference just for an extra portion of rice. That’s almost the price of another full plate!

What went wrong: I asked the waiter for the additional price but did not get an answer. When I questioned the total bill, the staff could not explain and just said “it’s the system.”

I really didn’t expect nasi tambah to cost RM6. This kind of unclear pricing and lack of explanation makes the dining experience feel unfair. Please improve your staff training and pricing...

Local and western dishes, clean and with nice deco. Hadn't the chance to dine in and our takeaways are limited to "Goreng-Goreng" dishes. Quite good and of generous helping.

But I'm not going to wax lyrical about the taste though (from what I had). Find them a bit on the salty side especially the Daging Masak Merah that came with Nasi Goreng USA. Same goes with the other food we ordered.

Update 1: Managed to dine in after the relaxation of MCO. Three stars for the general cleanliness, nice deco/ambiance plus the wide range and generous helpings of food.

Taken off one star for the taste plus one star off for the waiting you'd have to go through from ordering to actual...

At first, I became skeptical about this place. From the outside, it seems like an usual cafe hype type. But I was wrong!!

This place offers a lot from where you are going to expect. The food is nice. Their price is also reasonable. The ambience is also chilling. And their portion is massive.

I came with my wife and ordered cheesy wedges and onion rings with under RM 10 for each appetizer, and it comes with a full plate of wonder! That portion could easily satisfy people of four.

As for main dishes, we ordered kuewteow and nasi ulam. Surprisingly, both of the dishes hit the notes. I love the aromatic of nasi ulam. Really recommended.
