If my memory serves me right, I first came to Tropicana Avenue because of Cellar 18. Since then, I have become sort of a regular here as I love coming to this area for a cuppa or just to drink. I have witnessed places come and go... and one day, I spotted an Italian restaurant hidden at one corner of tbe building which was partially blocked by The Canteen. "New kids on the block" I told the family.
That very first meal was particularly memorable because 1) the kids were raving about the pizza as they shared one, and 2) Jenn and I shared another dish in the form of lamb shank. Probably it was just me but I thought that the shank was beautifully done. We came back a few times after that and now I have time to post about this.
◾fried calamari served with truffle oil mayonnaise - definitely something that can be munched on while waiting for the food to be served. ◾Insalata Caprese - can't get enough of the traditional Italian buffalo mozzarella served with tomato, fresh basil and extra virgin olive oil. ◾Zuppa con Frutti Di Mare - fresh seafood soup in rich and spicy tomato broth. ◾Margherita pizza - classic Italian pizza made with all imported ingredients, and it got thumbs up. ◾Risotto con fungi - the kids' indication is never wrong and looking at how they polish the whole plate, it must be good. ◾Spaghetti All Arrabiata ◾Stinco D'Agnello - imported lamb shank, slow braised in oven till tender, and then cooked with Italian herbs in rich tomato sauce. Gotta say, this is the best lamb shank I had so far as I love the interpretation and execution of this dish, at least it's something different from the usual that I had.
There's nothing a bottle of Italian Rose wouldn't help to elevate the experience.. Italian wine and Italian food.. perfect! For me, it is worth coming just for the lamb...

What we had :
Seafood soup Rm32 🌟 *Soup was incredibly delicious! The broth was hearty, rich, and flavorful, packed with an abundance of fresh seafood. It was truly satisfying. Don't forget to soak up all the deliciousness with some crusty bread!
Deep fried Calamari Rm32 ❌️ The fried calamari was not great . It tasted bland and the truffle mayo lacked any truffle flavor. I personally wouldn't order it again and would opt for other menu options instead.
Spaghetti with pesto scallop Rm45 🌟 Absolutely amazing! From the first bite to the last, it was a burst of deliciousness. The hamdmade pasta had a perfect chewy texture, and the pesto sauce was creamy, rich, and incredibly flavorful. The scallops were cooked to perfection, tender and flavorful. It was a bang of flavors.Highly recommended!
Stuffed chicken breast Rm46 🌟 *So delicious! The chicken was perfectly cooked - juicy, moist, and tender and it was wrapped with cheese and vegetables. Overall, each bite was filled with incredible flavor that brought a smile to my face.
Tiramisu Rm22 I was excited to try their Tiramisu, but unfortunately, it tasted rather mediocre.
Long black Rm10 🌟 *The coffee here is simply amazing, strong and full of flavor. So good we bad 2 cups each. It's a...
Read moreFood is acceptable. But subpar for the price they are charging. You can find better options within 5km of this outlet such as Dave’s which offer much better quality of food that actually remains maintained over time.
The most dissappointing thing I’ve realised, is that for the price they charged me for a cafe latte, it’s not freshly ground coffee beans. It’s an instant coffee machine that produces piping hot coffee liquid with zero crema, which is obvious when you don’t use fresh beans and use processed coffee grinds instead which lose all it’s flavour. You would expect a place like this to have proper barista quality coffee with the price that comes along with it.
Overall, food is acceptable if you are looking for convenience. Just do not waste your money on the coffee...
