Flight Club Kota Kinabalu — Restaurant in Sabah

I've been to countless Plaza Premium Lounges before. My first experience at this Flight Club KK wasn't very good, which affected my mood when dining.

After ordering, I entered this comfortable and relaxing environment to wait for my meal. I noticed a self-service area with orange juice, soft drink beverages, and snacks nearby, so I naturally got up to grab a glass of drink.

Shortly after sitting down, a waiter came and politely informed me that the drinks in that area were not allow to take. I believe it was the leader, who was sitting in the lounge working on their computer, who instructed theirs waiter.

After waiting for a while, my meal arrived. I didn't even take a sip of that glass of drink as I had lost my appetite by then. I suggest if that area isn't accessible, you should put up a sign to inform customers. Do you really want every unsuspecting customer to be told they can't use it, potentially ruining their mood?

28 Jan 2024: caution to those with lounge access credit cards: this place will not let you in even if your bank says it's one of the places under the Plaza Premium Lounge group where you can enjoy the services.

In my case, the reasons were along the following lines: "....we are not a lounge.... we do not have a buffet available yet.... we have already informed the banks we are not yet ready....."

So, that is inconsistent with my bank (RHB) which stated the benefits inter alia are "set meal and drink" which they certainly have. Even after downloading the bank's terms and conditions that show these they were adamant that they had already notified their banks.

EDIT (9 Mar 2025): I noticed some reviewers a few months ago saying they had obtained complimentary service through their bank credit card program. However, when I went there today, I was told this had been discontinued since...

I came here on 22/8/2024 with Free Credit Card Access for a set of meals. First, the staff at the counter will check your card for eligibility. She was very patient and friendly when answering all my inquiries. Then, you must fill in the form/register at the counter, and the staff will provide the barcode to order (If you use free access from a credit card). The Free meals are limited to less than 10 choices. I chose 【Baked Sambal Fish Steak with Coconut Rice】 and 【Noodle Soup with Fried Fish】. The environment was pleasant and not noisy.

Note: The Unlimited Beverage/Tea/Coffee (Self Service) is only for those who order Set B (RM48) or come in with Free Flight Club access provided by their respective Bank's Credit Card. A tin (Cola, Sprite, etc.) or bottle of drinking water is charged (as shown in the picture); I didn't take them due...
