E.S. Bar — Restaurant in Sarawak

The place is nice, beers are good, atmosphere good, food good and the service warm and friendly. However I went here primarily to enjoy a game of football on tv in a nice pleasant comfy environment. I called the bar prior to coming if I could watch my football game and they said yes. I got there two hours early before the game to get a good seat. And once I got there I confirmed once again about watching the game. 15 minutes before the game I asked them to switch channels from the badminton they were showing to my game. However they said this is not possible because other people were watching badminton. They ushered me to a plain room a few doors away, with a stuffy environment. No atmosphere, uncomfortable, no deco, not the atmosphere that I had come for to watch the game. I decided to leave, as it was more comfortable for me to just watch the game on my handphone in my hotel room. Hugely disappointing. While I understand why they could not switch the channel, I did not get what I felt I was promised. Just common sense I had come with the expectation of watching the game in a nice ambience instead of being shunted away at the last moment to a lousy place to watch. Technically yes, the game was on.. but honestly la. I felt cheated. After paying premium pricing for my beers, I expected a premium...

Decent place with darts, but the bartender made a completely different drink for me instead of my original order. He even had to refer to a book/manual when mixing the drinks, which is a huge no-no if you intend to have a bar.

Proprietor (or manager, I'm not sure) did apologise for the inconvenience, but it went as far as that. Will look for a different watering hole next time where the bartender knows his/her drinks without having to refer to an instruction manual. This is the first time I've seen something like that happen, and based on TripAdvisor and Google reviews, this is supposed to be one of the better bars in Sibu. Slim pickings I guess, better mix your own...

For me as a business traveller...i need a place where by I can do my work using my laptop while I have own PowerPoint to charge my mobile phone or laptop...and most important to have draught beer under the comfortable environment, this is the one!
