Im a picky eater, there is bunch of things i don't eat. Especially offal. BUT, the way they infuse "borneo" recipe into food is what amazed me. It's almost like they have moved the way of borneo aboriginals cook to the urban. 1)Dabai(Sarawak's olives) fried rice -sweet, nutty, fatty aroma rice 2)Midin Langkau(Langkau=whiskey like rice alcohol/Midin=Sarawak's fern type vegetable) -Umami-ful vege, can't stop eating it 3)The sour hoon-ngan(hoon-ngan=foo chow people's common noodle) -I forgot the actual name, but it's cook with a type of "wild tomato" if im hearing it right, very tasty and mouth watering. BBQ pork, Bamboo chicken soup, Barbeque stuff are ok and spot on. Oh and never forget their Chili and sambal sauce..that definitely has a kick and you will never forget how good it taste!!!! Lastly, they sell tuak(rice wine) and their own cocktail as well in a big tower of jar. I like the cocktail as its sweet and tasty, but it has a fair amount of alcohol in it, never fooled by the taste! haha Pricing is very subjective, I think it's fairly reasonable as they are proving more than just regular restaurant, I can see that they are really into the borneo culture and they should be rewarded more than any other always-seen restaurants.

Even before coming to Sibu, I had looked up places that serve umai, a delectable raw fish delicacy. I was thrilled to find Mak Borneo, a restaurant that serves authentic Dayak dishes. And each dish that we ordered, none was disappointing. Each mouthful was memorable and gave me such joy. The bottle of tuak (original flavor) added to my state of delirious pleasure. Even the small hiccup of wrong order did not spoil any of our moods. I can't recall the names of the dishes but here are the five star dishes - the divine umai ikan, superb babi tunu (BBQ pork), sayur manis in langkau, signature fried rice with an amazingly marinated fried chicken, and a chopped up sweet potato leaf that was totally easy to digest. Mak Borneo, please stay in business for a long long time. I am coming back again all the way from Semenanjung. Jumpa lagi!

Whenever we visit Sibu since we discovered this place, we have never missed having 1 dinner here. The team here are super friendly. Food is also whipped out pretty fast. It can get a tad hot as it isn't air-conditioned. But it's fine for us. I just wish that they have draught beer to go with their food especially the babi tunu. My personal fav here is their tempoyak ikan bilis. I never missed ordering this. Another dish which I do like as well is the daging salai with terung asam soup. But this dish can finish fast. I don't eat intestines but my partner who does says their perut babi manis is good. Even better than the babi tunu (which I do eat and find it good especially with their special chilli dip).
