Came here for breakfast today.
Ordered the Alcea Eggs Benedict - their sauce was amazing and not overwhelming. Each bite was great. The combo of the eggs with the turkey ham with the bread topped with a accomodating sauce. It was almost perfect (9/10). The garnish on top i would suggest to put something else Plain Aglio olio - pasta price was average tasted better than the picture. Spaghetti was a little bit overcooked. Would suggest to add other types of pasta like angel hair/fettucini/penne as well as improve on presentation (7/10) Grilled sandwhich with tomato soup - the tomato soup was fantastic (usually tomato soups are flat with minimal amount of herbs) the grilled cheese was simple and tasty with a good texture (7.5/10) Long black coffee - The blend is more of an acquired taste as it is not similar to the mainstreamed coffeee people usually drink (starbcuks/coffeebean/zus) . So some would say its not good. But i enjoyed this blend that they offered. Coffee was smooth and not overwhelming but it wasnt amazingly amazing (7/10) Lemon cake - simple butter cake glazed with lemon icing. Nothing special (4-5/10)
I did not get to try their order dishes and drinks though. Something for others to try n comment on.
Ambience was a little bit cramped up, would suggest to open tables outside or expand but that depends on their company's decision.
I wouldnt mind coming again for the other dishes and also the eggs benedict. This place...
Read moreI visited this cafe after reading the previous reviews which were very complimentary. I must admit that the reviews do the cafe justice. This was my first visit and I came away quite impressed. I went on a quiet Tuesday morning and still found the place relatively busy. The interiors are cool, clean and comfortable. My server was very friendly and kind though it takes a while fo get the attention of the waiting staff who were literally standing a few inches away from me.
For vegetarians, there aren't as many options as the neighboring cafes such as "The Botanist" whose menu is undoubtedly more creative. Alcea's menu has the usual eggs, pancakes and pasta besides other meat based dishes which I didn't explore. I ordered scrambled eggs which was melt in the mouth good and came with delicious roasted potatoes and good quality bread. The flat white I ordered along with it tasted great (they clearly use good quality coffee beans.) I went alone and felt completely comfortable in the spacious interiors. The cost of 29 rm for the eggs and coffee is comparable to most cafes in and around KL and cyberjaya. I think that I would like to see them develop their menu a bit more but for now, cafe Alcea is an awesome place to go to for great quality,...
Read moreReally good éclairs and cream puffs however the lack of stars is due to how unfriendly the premise is towards infants. When we entered their cafe on Friday at about 530pm where only 20% of the place was occupied, my husband was greeted with a stern voice by the Indian waiter with earrings that strollers need to be placed outside.
Don't get me wrong, the desserts are ABSOLUTELY brilliant and so are their coffee but however, if you have a baby, don't bother coming here. Clearly the owner don't have children to think about stuff like this and only wanted to cater for single childless adults who may crowd the place on weekends where no babies...
