went bc of the hype from friends and the promising reviews here, however i think there's nothing to die for. went during weekday lunch hour and the service was mediocre, under staffed. when it was full house i could barely see one or two workers, but when the crowd died down all of them sat behind the counter and one staff (the big fat guy) even dared to glare at me when i was trying to look at the dessert display. menu and order had to be manual by the waiter which consumes time esp during peak hours. at this day and age idt it requires much to establish an online QR menu for the sake of efficiency, just my two cents.
ordered the grilled chicken with mash, buttered vege and black pepper sauce. mash was instant and they threw in randomly cut potatoes in as a disguise, sauce was instant too and barely tasted of black pepper. just tasted like it came out of a bag. ordered the mango cheesecake to share and my company felt that this one was instant. for drinks we ordered the peach and tangerine, and theyre just mediocre.
im still confused as to why there's plenty of 5 star reviews: either they delete the not so pleasant ones, or coincidentally the clientelle enjoys instant food, or i chose a wrong menu and my opinion would change had i eaten the pasta. the price is just standard cafe price, so it doesnt hurt to try. im not opposed on going again to give them the benefit of the doubt as the food didnt taste bad, but i dont think i can get over the experience that instantly (see what...
Read moreLove the food here. I actually come here a lot every time i come to tamarind. i recommend to all my friends also. The pasta options i've tried so far: tomyam carbonara, carbonara, were super good. Tastes homemade! I also eat the burgers here and they're wonderful too. The deep fried savoury soft buns are a must buy everytime i come here. If cannot finish, i take home n airfry n they're still perfect!
But the staff kind of not very well trained for customer service. They're not super rude, but it does mess up the vibe every time. Went for dinner on Sun, Aug 17. A girl with tudung there speaks kind of harshly, really taken aback. Another girl in ponytail, my friend said was rolling her eyes every time they put food down on our table. They are also usually chatting, sitting down hiding behind the cashier so when we need staff, we don't see anybody to call. Staff always look like very young fashionable girls here, so they might just not be very experienced with customer service but manager should make sure to train them properly lah. I think smiling is bare minimum for customer service?? I didn't see myself the staff rolling her eyes, but I would have got mad on the spot honestly.
I still come here a lot n will still come cuz the food is just that good. Atmosphere-wise it's all fine. But the AI cartoon images for decor throws me...
Read moreTo be honest, I was a little sceptical the first time I walked in Barba Bros & Cuz. I thought it was going to be one of those hipster cafes you see on Instagram serving low-quality food and drinks with a high price. Fortunately, I was proved wrong.
The food portions were generous, especially considering the reasonable prices. I felt like I got great value for what I paid. I would highly recommend the Carbonara Pasta with Beef as well as the Chicken Chop (grilled and fried were both tasty).
The staff was generally polite and accommodating, though there was a small hiccup with my dad’s order. My dad had asked for the beef burger, but instead, they brought him a different dish. However, they quickly realised the mistake, apologised, and promptly brought the correct meal with no charges.
Overall, it was a very pleasant meal at Barba Bros & Cuz. I would definitely return and bring some friends too to have a...
