Service staff attitude was really bad. Was there at 730am on 26 Aug. I didn't catch the name, but the lady who served us was an Indian lady. While taking our order, I specifically told her that we wanted less sugar in our Teh Tarik, to which she gave me a blank stare. When I told her again, and stared at me as though I had somehow offended her. So I told her to please make sure it has less sugar, to which she just nodded. The drink of course, came with normal sugar.
When setting the table, she placed the two serviettes down, laid down a set of cutlery on one, and went to get the other set, which she had forgotten. When she came back with it, she just stuck her hand out with the cutlery, to pass it to my mother (instead of putting it on the serviette), while staring at her, without saying a word. Strange (and we also thought a bit rude) because she could have just put it on the serviette, like she did with the set before.
Third incident, we ordered half boiled eggs, but instead of giving us pepper, we were given salt. No big issue, we just looked up and tried to get someone's attention. 2 minutes later, not one person even attempted to look and see if anyone needed anything. So I walked over to ask another wait staff for pepper. Eventually, the same waitress came with the pepper, placed it on the table without saying a word (not even a"sorry" or "here you go") - just looked at me, I guess waiting for me to thank her or apologize for troubling her - and then turned around and walked away.
Being Malaysian, we are used to different levels of friendliness when going to the more budget makan places, but this level of service is bad even by street food standards. And we had to pay 10% service charge too!
The food was acceptable, but staff don't even pretend to want to be there (at least the one who served us).
Another note: when other wait staff were moving tables and chairs, they did not even bother to keep the noise down - they just dragged and pushed them, making as much noise as you possibly could. This did not bother us much, but shows the level of service and perhaps is a sign that the manager was not there (or also doesn't see anything...
Read moreI recently had breakfast at Kitchen by OpenHouse located at KLIA Terminal 1, and I feel extremely compelled to share my experience, hoping it will be taken as constructive feedback for improvement.
Our bill came up to RM220.00, which is a premium price for breakfast, especially in an airport setting. With such pricing, I had certain expectations for the quality of both food and service. Unfortunately, the entire experience fell far below any reasonable standard.
To begin with, the food was extremely disappointing N not just lacking in taste, but also poorly presented and unappetizing. It’s hard to even find the right words to describe how unsatisfactory it was. It genuinely felt like no thought or care had gone into the preparation. For such an established name, I expected refined flavours, balanced seasoning, and at the very least, freshness but none of those were present. The textures were off, the taste was bland, and the dishes served felt rushed and uninspired.
As for the drinks, they were shockingly tasteless. It was as if no effort was put into crafting them , watery, dull, and completely devoid of any flavour or character. When you’re paying premium prices, even a simple drink should reflect attention to quality.
I rarely write such negative reviews, but in this case, I believe it’s necessary. For a restaurant operating in an international hub like KLIA Terminal 1, this kind of experience doesn’t just reflect poorly on your brand, it also leaves a negative impression on international visitors who may judge local cuisine based on this.
To be frank, if no immediate improvements are made , especially in terms of kitchen staff and quality control , I fear the business may not be able to sustain itself in the long term. I strongly suggest a serious re-evaluation of the kitchen team, particularly the chef, and an overhaul of the menu or preparation methods to ensure consistency and quality that matches the price point.
Thank you, and I sincerely hope this feedback is taken seriously. I genuinely want to see the restaurant improve, because the concept has potential , but only if the execution...
Read moreHad dinner here while waiting to send off my brother for his flight. We came in a big group of 10. I ordered the nasi dagang (RM28) and it was horrible. At best I’d rate it a 2/5. The rice was HARD. Pretty sure it was cooked with lesser amount of water than it should have. The gulai ikan tongkol you might ask? Also horrible. You’re telling me i paid almost 30 ringgit for the portion of ikan to be the size of my pinkie? Absolutely ridiculous?? Pls I have no idea how this place has a 4.7 rating. Ordered a bunch of other stuff for our table but they were all average, nothing phenomenal. Honestly would’ve been so much happier if we just opted for TacoBell next door instead 🥲. Or even Din Ti Fung for this price point.
And to put the cherry on top of all this, at the end of our meal we were greeted by the staff members shouting at each other. One of the kitchen staff and one of the servers yelled IN FRONT of the customers, literally we could all hear it. Talk about professionalism and customer service 🤣. We could clearly see and hear what was going on cause boy they were YELLING. I heard one of the staff swearing “babi, bodoh, sial” guys really? Aside from that the service wasn’t anything special either, just average. One of the waitress also looked at us weird for taking a while to order. She also seemed quite distracted while taking our orders?? Unsure as to why. In our defence, we came in a big group so ofc it might take a while to finalize everyone’s order.
Anyways, 100% will not be coming back here until all of this is sorted out and quality of food is better. Please train your staff to be more respectful towards the customers and to be more vigilant.
10/10 would not recommend anyone to come...
