Visited CDC Cafe on Saturday, 8 Feb 2025 for our small gathering and early dinner. We had high hopes for CDC Cafe, but unfortunately, our experience was quite disappointing. We ordered Fish & Chips, Grilled Salmon, Aglio Olio Spaghetti, and a Sirloin Steak. However, the steak was undercooked despite us requesting medium well. When we raised the issue, the staff insisted it was cooked as requested. We were left speechless because this is not the first time, we are having steak at a restaurant or a cafe. The steak was a major disappointment as it is also one of the most expensive foods in the menu.
Additionally, we asked for extra black pepper sauce for the steak and tartar sauce for the salmon since the menu didn’t mention any add-ons. To our surprise, we were charged for them. We wouldn’t have minded if the menu had listed the additional cost, but it wasn’t mentioned anywhere, which felt misleading.
The Aglio Olio was another letdown. We specifically requested it to be spicy, but it was bland and tasteless—nowhere near spicy. The Fish & Chips portion was also quite small, with more batter than actual fish.
To top it off, the drinks were disappointing. We ordered three Iced Hazelnut Lattes and an Iced Latte. The coffee was weak, with the milk completely overpowering the coffee flavor. The Hazelnut Latte was excessively sweet.
Overall, our visit was underwhelming, and we were let down by both the food and the drinks. Wouldn’t recommend it for coffee lovers or those looking for a...
Read moreI recently moved to the area and have been trying out different cafes and restaurants. CDC is currently #1 on my list!
The environment is absolutely lovely – open air, surrounded by plants, and filled with fresh air. It’s such a relaxing spot to dine.
For food, I had the chicken aglio olio. While the flavors were decent, especially when eaten with the chicken slices and onions, the spaghetti could’ve been less cooked, and the “oiliness” felt a bit off. My sister ordered the fish & chips, which was fantastic – the fish was crispy, the chips were homemade, and the variety of sauces was a nice touch. Honestly, one of the best fish & chips we’ve had.
For drinks, I had an iced chocolate, which was super delicious, and my sister had Earl Grey tea, which was fresh and not the instant 3-in-1 kind – definitely a plus!
Lastly, I want to highlight the amazing service. A woman who greeted us from afar, acted as the cashier, and served us was incredibly friendly, which made our experience even better.
Overall, CDC has a lot of potential and is worth a visit for the atmosphere and...

I really wanted to like this place. The staff were friendly, especially the hijabi lady who greeted us at the counter. The ambiance and atmosphere were also quite nice, typical of a cafe located in Tamarind Square.
However, the food was sorely disappointing. The best out of all the food we had was the Chocolate Cookie, but even that was so-so. It was served chilled and was a bit hard. The Cafe Latte tasted like it was diluted even though it just got served to us. My Chicken Bolognese pasta was nothing to write home about, the pasta itself was fine but the sauce was bland. No sweetness, saltiness, just a slight pinch of acidity. I even found a piece of plastic (?) in between bites. My partner's Carbonara was alright, but it was probably a "Malaysian" Carbonara (the one with cream in it) instead of the original version.
I really hope this place can improve because it has a lot of potential, but for now, this will be my last...
