Came here for their Christmas buffet on 25/12/2024. We had already booked a month prior. Yet when we had arrived on the day, we were asked to find a waiter in a blazer by ourselves to look for our table. Mind you, there were few of them wearing the blazer. I felt this was quite unprofessional. Upon searching for and finding the waiter , we realised they had not put down our name at the table. So the waiter just kinda gave a random one, or I’m not sure if they were honest and it actually was our table. This happened to several other customers who were queuing behind us as well. It’s a lot more difficult to navigate for these things when you have two elderly parents with you.
Moving on to the food, it wasn’t so great. Coffee wasn’t as hot as we wanted it , it was just lukewarm until we asked them to change some settings. Food options were really not as good as the Father’s Day buffet they had earlier on this year. Although the menu mentioned lobsters, lobsters were missing. We felt the seafood counter didn’t give off a good smell, which sort of indicated it wasn’t fresh.
If this was any common day I wouldn’t bother, with a review but it sort of ruined a really nice celebration of mine that I only get to have yearly with the family. For that I am quite displeased with the service and felt that it was quite a huge waste of money. Definitely not...
Read moreFirst and last time we will ever go here. If I can put negative star, I would.. First of all, the sea-meat theme is misleading and so lame! seafood on ice: a handful of prawn, mussel and sea crab. Look so miserable even my kids ask if will get food poisoning if eat. No refill! carving station: a small piece of roast beef with mashed potato. No refill and no other things here. pasta station: took 30min for an order of cabonara pasta! That is also after I got upset and complain. cooked food: very very limited choice of food and again, super super slow refill. Steam fish took forever to be refill. Only thing keep refill is satay.. dessert: a few pieces of cakes, local kueh, small pieces of butter and sponge cake on stick and a few marshmallow for the chocolate fountain. drinks: water and some weird blue cordial ice cream: not much to say. Normal store bought ice cream. Later, we found out the usual people handling the buffet was pulled to cook and serve vvip. Hello! We are paying customers too! Cannot just abandon the many tables paying customers to serve the 1 table vvip!! Might as well don't open buffet! I initially thought, awesome! A Marriot near my house but this is really the worse buffet I ever been to! So so so...
Read moreWe recently dined at the buffet and unfortunately, the experience fell far below expectations—especially for a property under the Marriott brand. The seafood section was misleading. It was clarified that the serving would be regular crab (which is better), but instead, flower crabs were served and they were not fresh—mushy in texture and unappetizing. Only four types of seafood were presented in small bowls, and fresh prawns took nearly 20–25 minutes to appear on the buffet line—only around 15–18 pieces were placed before the next long wait. Staff seemed reluctant to replenish and lacked basic hospitality—no smiles or engagement.
The Alfredo sauce was watery and only thickened after a reminder. The chef’s response to feedback was unwelcoming and defensive. The satay gravy was cold and diluted, and the cendol was poorly presented in a half-melted state. Bread pudding was decent, but again, the vanilla sauce was watery.
Food overall lacked variety—mostly chicken-based dishes, and many were not served hot. While a few waitstaff were polite and helpful, the overall standard does not reflect Marriott's reputation. Parking was also an issue—very limited, and many diners ended up parking at Setia City Mall or...
