One Serambi Cafe — Restaurant in Shah Alam

Having been around as a mainstay for the Bukit Jelutong folks as the neighbourhood eatery, One Serambi Cafe (OSC) recently underwent massive renovations to change the interior. Not that there was anything wrong with it in the first place, the main focus in the change was for upstairs dining.

OSC serves good western fare with a sprinkling of Asian favourites as well. A quick look at their menu will tell you their focus on pastas and steaks is quite apparent. But the test is not by the number of items on the menu but rather how good each of the items are.

I have managed to try quite a number of items here through the years, and there are some hits and misses. Their pastas are very good, especially the smoked duck, the squid ink and the carbonara linguine is recommended.

The steaks are generous in portions and side dishes but sometimes can lack a bit of seasoning. But that’s just me being picky.

Of the three featured Asian favourites in the menu - my recommendation would be to go for the ayam balado. Crispy, succulent piece of chicken that’s grilled to perfection and paired with spices that take it to another world.

Parking here is always easy to obtain, and the seating and atmosphere is cost and relaxing. They are closed on Mondays, and I’d stay away during peak meal times on the weekends unless you have a...

We had our company dinner at One Serambi Cafe and it was a truly wonderful experience. I personally ordered the Carbonara Linguine Chicken — it was delicious and exactly as I requested (extra spicy). The staff really went the extra mile to fulfill our special requests.

Our team ordered a variety of dishes including the Beef Burger, Lamb Burger, Grilled Chicken, Aglio Olio Salmon, Salted Egg Chicken, Grilled Lamb Shoulder, and Salmon Steak — and everyone enjoyed their meals.

From the moment we made the booking to the end of our dinner, the service was superb. The staff were attentive and friendly, not to mention thanks to Ms. Alia & Mr. Ryan and the team too for your great services. The ambiance was cozy and welcoming, making it perfect for gatherings. Food portions were generous, and everything was prepared and served on time, as per our request.

One of the highlights of the evening was the birthday celebration we had for one of our staff. The restaurant staff were so cooperative and even sang a birthday song while bringing out the cake — it meant a lot to all of us.

Super disappointed with the service here! I'm a Hindu and we don't eat Beef. I ordered Big Hearty Breakfast and Light and Easy Breakfast (with no Beef in it). After placing my order I even asked the waiter if any of my meal has Beef in it to reconfirm though the menu has said it all. Answer given was " no Beef".

After being served, we even asked what those sausages were made of, answer given was "lamb".

After paying and I checked the receipt , I noticed I was charged for food that I did not order!

Big heart Breakfast (NO BEEF) = rm 32.90. (My order)

OSC Breakfast (BEEF steak)= rm 52.90. (We are served with)

After meeting the manager, all I was told was " We are sorry, it is purely waiter's mistake". Never expected such an irresponsible answer. The mistake is their's but the impact is on us. I had to pay extra for things I did not order and for food that we weren't want to eat at all! No refund was given too!
