The infamous chinese Nasi Kandar of Puchong. Let me share with you my experience. Its located in a typical Chinese kopitiam opposite Lotus Puchong. The rice is nice and fluffy. I asked for the kuah campur which is a mix of chicken, mutton, squid, probably dhall and fish (No kicap sauce gravy here). Don't forget to ask for banjir. Guess what, the curry has nice thickness, not diluted. Surprisingly it's flavourful with curry spices but not salty. It's a bit light compared to Pelita or Kayu, taste wise. Health conscious I guess which is not a bad thing. The cabbage is nicely cooked with kunyit and that too has nearly no salt. I also added half a salted egg and that too wasn't salty (I got someone else to taste it and validate that it's not the usual salty) Hmmm... Finally the highlight of the dish, the fried chicken leg. The batter is really nice, thin, tasty, crunchy and juicy. WOW!! My only gripe is the chicken meat could use some seasoning or marinated prior to frying. Else it would be even better. Honestly this is where they beat Pelita and Kayu. Price wise is ok, total RM15 a plate minus drinks. A great alternative if you want a not so in your face tasting Nasi Kandar. No wonder they are the recommended. BTW, they serve pork free...
Read moreRead about this stall inside a kopitiam. Just beside lotus Puchong. Turning in could be tricky but once you are in this area there is plenty of parking. Come early to avoid a long queue and the need to wait for a table This is due to the popularity even though service is very fast like clock work. This stall shares the same seating tables with other stalls like in a normal kopitiam, the reason difficulty in finding a table when the lunch crowd built up. There are 3 or 4 workers doing the servicing at the stall and all are malay makcik. One to take order and fill up your banana plate. The next one will do the cutting or chopping. One more to add the papadam and take payment. Cabbage is scoop into your plate after the rice. Then you choose either fried chicken, mutton curry, squid curry, boiled egg, telur dadah or salty duck egg. The fried chicken is huge and the need to cut in bite pieces. Of course no nasi kandar is complete without kuah banjir. I chose the fried chicken. The curry was appetising and the chicken was very crispy on the skin and juicy in the meat. Will come back for the mutton for sure. You will not regret...
Read moreThe curries were well spiced but the choices were rather one dimensional in my opinion (unlike the usual fares of kuah and curries you can expect from a nasi kandar). The fried chicken wasn't what I would call fantastic in taste but it was juicy and crispy nonetheless. The curry mutton tasted good with its punchy spices and the meat wasn't too chewy. Pricing was expensive as i was charged RM37 for a plate of nasi kandar with fried chicken, telur dadar, vege and a plate of curry mutton. I knew it wouldn't be cheap given the amount of food i ordered but at that price tag, I can get much more at other famous nasi kandar shops or I would be charged lesser for the same amount of food. All in all, I'd say that this is a decent nasi kandar but I would certainly give this a miss if I have to endure the long queue in the shop, traffic jam and parking problems in the area just to dine in. The stall is also located in a kopitiam in need of some refurbishment so don't expect a great dining environment when you...
