Update : 1st May 2022

The popular Curry Noodles from Restoran Big Family has moved here. This should raise the popularity of this good court a little. It's still RM 10b per bowl. The curry was still very rich with coconut milk flavour.

We actually haven't been here for sometime. It was not really a viable option for us .

There seem to be more stalls operating now. It has become a viable option.

I still couldn't handle the temperature of the ambience. Big fans have been installed which helped a little. I would have preferred more ventilation fans. It's a well known fact that warm air rises. The big fans pushed the warm air downward. I probably need to come on a sunny and hot afternoon.....

By the way, the Shredded Chicken Hor Fun and Pork Noodles were quite good.

Sometime back.... Quite a variety of option here but not every stalls would serve food palatable enough.

The best would definitely be the Char Siu Wonton noodle. Noodles would be of the pleasantly springy type with an ever so slightly chewy texture. Quite tasty but need to remind them to not sprinkle too much powdered pepper onto the noodles which can really ruin the taste which happened on a couple of occasions. Better off without the pepper.

Char Siu tend to be a little too salty and I have definitely tasted batter. Char Siu here was good enough but sometime they would serve the really fatty type with hardly any noticeable amount of lean meat. I personally did not mind the fatty type which gave it an almost melt-in-the-mouth texture. Char Siu skin could be a little tough but still chewable.

Wonton was fine but the skin was too soft. Having a little tougher and chewy skin should improve it. Tend to be a little thirsty after a bowl of noddles, acceptable though.

Pork noodles would be another good one, worth a try, pork without the funky smell of boar taint.

I did not like the Pan Mee and Curry Noodles served here. I believe the curry was prepared with very little coconut milk or milk so that it wouldn't go bad so fast. This way, the curry can last longer perhaps and this was also why I think the taste of curry powder was strong.

Forget about it's taste, the noodles in Pan Mee was just too soft. Curry noodles and pan mee need to be improved upon.

Drinks were okay but can be too sweet even when I ordered them with less sugar. Toasted bread can be totally unacceptable occasionally when they served it with almost spoiled bread, very obvious from the strong mouldy taste. Some quality control would be very much welcomed.

This place used to be pretty hot with every opening in the roof sealed. It was better after they installed some air coolers as well as water misting system. It could still be improved upon if they would make a couple of openings to release the trapped hot air. They probably do not understand that hot air rises. It could still become humid on a hot day.

This place is still worth a try for it's Wonton noodles and...

In this food court on the right side of the court there's this newly opened stall called Shan Town Seafood. That was where I had my Winter Solstice dinner with my family. We ordered 5 dishes

  1. Steamed Patin Fish - this fish came with more than a kg and it was every bit as delicious as I could imagine it to be. No earthy smell, steamed just right and the sweet taste of the meat got it a 9/10. Missed one point because the sauce was not savory enough for me.
  2. The Peking Spare Ribs was also a recommended dish and it did not disappoint. The mixture of sweet, sourish and savory tastes evoke my childhood memory of eating this dish for the first time. Again, 9/10
  3. The Steamed Salted Chicken was the champion of the night. The village chicken was steamed just right and mixing the slightly salty sauce with rice further opened up my appetite for more. 10/10.
  4. We also ordered the Steamed Prawns and was served with large sized prawns that are totally fresh. No complaints at all as the chef who used to work in a seafood restaurant are skilled in steaming dishes. (9/10).
  5. The Romaine Lettuce with Fermented Beancurd was the only typically tasting dish of the night. There were no surprises and in fact the fermented beancurd taste was not heavy enough for me. (7/10)

I would come back for more in the near future when I have enough people with me. Apparently their signature steamed sultan fish is at least 2 kg big. I need a small army to help me to tackle this...

Everytime when I come back to Malaysia, I would love to have the local food of pork noodles which it is hard to find oversea. The pork in Malaysia is much more tastier than UK or Australia. The meat seem to have a type of nasty meaty smells there but not certainly not those in Malaysia. (We actually bought a few grams of mince meat from the roadside butcher few days ago to do some steaming of mince pork and we actually being stupid to smell it.... no smells at all !) Missus took me to this food court one morning out of coincidence as it’s near to the neighbourhood and immediately I know what I want - Pork Noodles, the first shop on the right main entrance. The waiting was quite long took bout 20 minutes but it is worth the wait. Soup is full of flavor and its heat up to the correct temperature - not too hot but warm enough to slurp up. They give very generous of mince pork and pork slices too. Liver is my most favourite and it was cook perfectly - not to cook too long and less chewy too. The deep fried garlic oil really sparks up the whole soup. The only thing missing is some greens which will definitely makes everything perfect. It’s really good pork noodles so far and reasonable price of RM 6.50 and would defo come back for more.
