Came in a little early and had a quick chat with the auntie at the stall. She's the one who usually handles the frying of the ordered dishes of CKT. On this rainy morning as the restaurant was still a little sedate as far as the typical crowd comes, I was recommended the noodles and keow teow combo. I am usually not a big fan of this variation of fried noodles but since the aunty recommended it, I happily agreed upon the suggestion. And oh yes, it was the right combo to go for especially on a cool rainy weekday morning here when there's a slight chilly bite in the morning air. You must have this combo with chilli and if your taste buds are able to tolerate the heat, then extra chilli is the way to go. Wash this down with a glass of iced kopi-o and it's a combo to die for. Read moreI've seen many bad reviews in terms of the uncle behavior, but I don't think that's fair. We should learn how to be understanding as he has many customer to handle and he's doing his best to cook. He's not rude, he's just straightforward and busy. He's food is still good , and for that price, inflation is affecting everyone. RM11 per plate is very fair, you have 4 generous peeled fresh prawns. Some CKT don't even peel the tail and that's annoying. Let's give compassion to people. Let's focus more on his food rather than his behavior. Anyhow, I went there for breakfast , not many customer so I didn't have to wait at all. The kopi there was also nice. It may not look the best kopitiam "Rion" because it's not renovated, but the food and drinks is good. Don't judge the book by...
Read moreOn the table is Penang Char Kway Teow (RM10 for large and RM9 for small). The flat rice noodles is the correct version, thinner and less sticky. The soya sauce used, almost the same with the colored darkness.
The similarities with Lorong Selamat end here. The value for me is way off, even for KL/PJ folks this is exorbitant. The prawns are small to medium, hardly justifiable.
Lorong Selamat Char Kway Teow is located inside 利安茶室 Restoran Rion USJ. Roughly about 10 to 15 minutes wait and parking is a little of a hassle because it's within a residential district.
