Hidden away in SS19 is this little gem serving Sarawak laksa and also Sibu's iconic kan pua mee. It's not difficult to find Sarawak laksa around the Klang Valley, but it's not easy to get the balance right that is acceptable to everyone. This shop gets it right.
Get ready to make a few rounds in order to find parking, but it's worth the effort.
The shop is housed in a shop lot and the seating area is small, only about 6 tables or so. During peak dining hours and weekends, expect to find a long queue standing outside the shop, with those at the queue gawking at the diners inside.
The menu is simple with both dishes in two sizes, regular or large. Prices are cheap, both under RM10, and you're set for a hearty meal.
The Sarawak laksa are noodles in a rich, thick, fishy broth that is quite different from the Penang variant, which is more sour due to the addition of tamarind. The kan pua mee could be mistaken for wan tan mee if you order the black sauce variant, but the original one are springy noodles in lard and laced with char siu and a bit more ingredients.
Whichever that you go for is fine as both are just as delicious. The queues outside the shop are a good indicator as to...
Read more230221 Hear this from a fren staying in USJ. So, as a Sarawakian, i am not letting go any chances to try out a true Sarawak delicacies. The outlet is rather small, 5 small table tat can sit max 4 pax, to be exact. I was here around 11.30am and get a seat immediately. Ordered 2 original kampua ( white) and a dry wantan (扁肉). The kampua, is the most authentic taste of Sibu kampua. Even all the kampua i tried in Kuching cant match. This is really Sibu kampua of which i missed for a very long time. Thank God for letting me know this. Its oily , for sure, its slightly salty , for sure, the noodle is a lil soggy, for sure and the pork, plain, for sure. Why? coz that is how an authentic Sibu kampua shud taste like. NICE !! as for the 扁肉 aka wontan, its nice , more "skin" than meat, for sure, as tat is how it shud be. we wanna eat the skin and meat is just as a compliment , in this case. For all kampua lover, especially Sibu foochow guys & gals, u will taste your "home" here. Oh ya, they close at about 1-2pm. So, dun be late. By the way, by the time we are done, people start queueing outside waiting...
Read moreHad kan-pua mee (large for RM9.50). The meat is on the drier side and they ironically didn't give me any soup to go with it
If you check on the wall, they pasted a notice saying they don't serve soup due to wastage. Hence, the lone wanton usually in the soup gets put under your stack of mee. They should at the very least ask the customers if they want soup to go with it
My friend had sarawak laksa (large for RM11). I tried the broth and it wasn't that bad. Had 3 prawns in it. Not a fan of the thicker mihun used in it though
Drinks; despite being on the expensive side, was actually good. The "teh c iced" (RM3.50) was thirst quenching
The outlet is on the smaller side so please expect to wait for seatings and staffs moving by you from time to time
Overall, it's a good place in Subang to have your Sarawak food fixation BUT there are better stalls serving...
