Xin Long Ji • Cantonese Roast Delicacies — Restaurant in Subang Jaya

Having read through the reviews of the place, I was curious to find out for myself about this quite famous place located in USJ 1.

Parking is not easy during peak hours as space is being fought for by the rows of shoplots nearby. But don't give up, there's an open car park nearby but that means a bit of a walk.

As I approached the shop, I noticed about 8 to 10 persons waiting outside the shop. I had thought that the place was packed, but fortunately I managed to get the last table to dine-in, and the crowd outside were all for takeaway.

The prices for the roast duck and chicken are not exactly cheap, but it's due to the size of the serving. I had ordered ½ a duck and ½ a chicken, with a serving of roast pork and char siew, expecting it to be enough to be for 4. Every dish that came was much bigger than expected, and we all had trouble finishing it!

The meats were fantastic! With the exception of the roast pork, which was just about average, the char siew was amazing, the roast duck was succulent and really good. The roast chicken was also above average and very tasty.

It's no wonder that the prices were a little higher than normal, so next time I'll be sure to cut down on the portion size in order to be able to finish!

Highly recommended to come a little earlier (between 11:00 to noon) before the rush begins. Brave the parking woes....

We came here for takeaway and by 1:30pm the roasted pork has been sold out. Truth be told, the food is nice esp the char siu. And the food presentation and packaging are top notch.

Now for the juicy stuff..... As mentioned multiple times in other reviews over the past many years, the lady boss attitude is really something. I pity her children and the staff working there. Her demeanor is so much different from what she portrayed in their marketing videos. Please don't even think of opening any more outlets before you resolve the SOP in this outlet. *Wink

Anyhow, looking at the bright side, during my 15 minute wait it was entertaining to see all the commotion and tension caused by the lady boss when she moved from the kitchen to the front desk. You could literally feel the energy drained into the abyss of her constant scowl on her face whenever she comes around.

Would I come back again? I probably would, because the food is pretty good to be honest although the price is slightly on the steeper end. And maybe I am still hopeful I may catch the ladyboss in a good mood. If you want to try your luck, just make sure you come absolutely no expectation of a decent dining experience. You have...

Had to come here to highlight the abuse of power I witnessed, something like this should not go by without backlash.

Short summary: Not mind blowingly delicious, but the lady boss behaviour will blow your mind. 🫰

Long summary: I guess all the comments towards the lady boss was true. Unnecessary annoyingly loud, arrogant, rude & unprofessional during my visit. Especially when nothing occurred but the lady boss suddenly bursts out in anger, using both verbal & her body language(throwing stuff/menus).

Also verbally abuses her employees & her kids. Heard her asking them questions and then shouting “SHUT UP!” at them when they reply her.

Given how “old” the previous negative reviews were, looks like the lady boss hasn’t redeemed herself & wouldn’t. As they say, people who are wrong won’t think they’re wrong I guess.

Also please la, don’t think shouting at your employees makes it seems like you’re teaching them how to work because it doesn’t. It just shows you’re a big bully abusing your power. So immature.

Food was mediocre, price on the higher-ish side. Not worth the money for rude service from lady boss, kena black face & attitude...
