Koko Grill — Restaurant in South Ari Atoll

This Japanese restaurant offers teppanyaki dining right on the beach, which is such a unique concept! The chef's skills reminded me of the precision we Norwegians appreciate in our craftsmanship - every cut, every flame perfectly controlled. Had the wagyu beef which was incredibly tender, though I have to admit I missed the robust flavors of our Norwegian beef. The miso-glazed black cod was exceptional and reminded me of our own North Sea cod back home, but with completely different preparation. The setting with sand between your toes while eating high-end Japanese cuisine is wonderfully surreal.
