What I love about Rangali is it is open from lunch until midnight or later. The essence of this is ones ability to be casual and relaxed during your vacation, avoiding dinner reservations and your option to enjoy the sunset each evening.

Happy Hour - We would flow from the Hilton Gold/Diamond Hour Hour at Ufaa from 4-5 pm to Rangali. They hosted half priced drinks from 5-6 pm.

Food - There is nothing special about the food at Rangali. Point. Blank. Period. Its the scenery. The casualness. The comfy chairs. The ambiance. And the events from movie nights to music. It’s all laid back here.

The pizza is over cooked. I didn’t even fuss for it to be remade although I was thoroughly disgusted with how hard the crust was. Despite me asking some questions of the staff, no one offered any recourse. I know! I know! I should have just asked them to remake it but it was my first meal and it kind of disappointed me to think the food was going to be bad during the duration of my trip.

I met Nazim the next day at breakfast and he reminded me that if something wasn’t right to just ask and allow them to try and accommodate us. He said they wanted to get it right. I had pizza tonight and asked for pepperoni which isn’t on the menu but they provided it. I also asked them to cook it a little less and it turned out decent. Not great. Not good. Decent.

The Chicken Tikka is bland. I honestly expected more seasoning for this food in the Maldives, some true culinary experience but nope. I asked for some Buffalo chicken sauce to dress it up like a good ole NYC gyro.

The lamb chops could have been seasoned a little more but they were a decent size and pretty good. The wings and fries are tasty.

The burger is a regular burger.

The lobster was good, along with the prawns. I would ask for the lobster and prawns to be cooked just a minute or two less as they were a little over cooked/chewy. These are personal preferences.

The final night my partner requested Penne Shrimp Alfredo. Not on the menu but accommodated. I dressed it up with salt, pepper and extra Parmesan cheese and he enjoyed it. Most meals were bland and needed salt and pepper. A bit disappointing that they deliver the garlic butter only slightly warm. We had to ask for them to heat a little so it’s completely melted for our seafood.

They welcome many different guest types. Be willing to ask for what you want. And allow them room to meet your needs. It may cost a little extra but it’s worth it. Also we had an amazing sangria, not on the menu, recommended by a couple celebrating their 26th wedding anniversary’s dinner revisiting for this occasion. It was amazing. Again, ask! The worst answer is “no” but the best answer could be “my pleasure.”

Service - Service was spotty. Sometimes we would be sitting down or trying to get someone’s attention for 5-10 minutes. Like today, it took approximately 10 minutes to get a server and we had to go to the bar to ask someone to assist us. Once your meal is served because it’s so laid back, no one tends to even come and check on you. We also have to request our bill. I’m going to chalk it up to the laid back vibe of the place.

Ambiance - The place starts to get packed at 5:15/5:30 so arrive right before Happy Hour or after to secure a prime seat for the sunset. If arriving for the kids movie, come and grab your seat. They seem to go quick. The bean bags on the floor. So cool to watch an outdoor movie. The party goes well into the evening with the live music. Once the sun goes down, any seat is a good seat.

Cost saving tip: Water - A bottle of still water is $15 USD, bring a water bottle or buy one during Happy Hour, save it and fill up in your room. You get 2 bottles of water delivered daily. Ask for mint and other fruit during breakfast to infuse your water. Staying hydrated is key. It’s really beautiful but warm here.

Great place for a bite. Food is great! You’ll likely have your first bite here when arriving since it’s right next to the reception. Right next to the beach and I think you can even choose to eat ‘on’ the beach. We liked the steak sandwich here. We even ordered to go to take back to our room. Looking forward to...

Great service, they were accommodating when we visited with a baby. Great lighting, sound, and design of the space. Spacious. Excellent drinks. We visited on most of the 10 days we spent at the resort. Dinner options are good as well. Happy hour from 6 to 7 for...
