We had dinner here on our last night in Mellieha Bay. We had taken a taxi that brought us to the opposite side of the bay from where we were staying. I will admit that we were attracted to this restaurant by the ambiance of the terrace, lighting, the flames of the patio heaters, the view etc. Recently fully renovated (previously know as Maya Beach) the restaurant is amazingly redecorated when you see the previous pictures from the google maps archives. The staff are obviously a new team and need more experience with the food they serve and working as a crew. We were recommended a white wine for starters which ended up to be way too sweet, after checking we realized that it was a dessert wine. My niece had a cocktail, which was nicely presented. For starters, I had beer battered onion rings, but that was as far as their vegetarian / vegan menu went, so for my mains, I asked for a vegan pizza garnished with fresh vegetables and I got a portion of sweet potato fries. During the service of the main course, there was a huge mix up in the side dishes, potatoes instead of fries etc. Which delayed the meal. I didn’t have dessert as I had eaten enough. So I just had tea. Overall it’s a lovely place to eat, with breathtaking views of the bay. The renovation sure is a huge success. Wishing them the very best for the summer season to come as the team are working hard towards customer satisfaction and providing a customer experience worthy of a wonderful holiday memory. I hope they adjust their menu, as out of all the restaurants we tested during our stay, this was the only one who didn’t ha a vegan / vegetarian meal on the menu. NewLifeKarma.

Beautiful location with amazing views. we come for a drink one afternoon and then decided to come back for dinner for our anniversary whilst on holiday which we booked online. Overall food was lovely and drinks were good too! Lobster linguine was very tasty! Service wasnt quite as good we asked the waitress when she took our drinks order if she could just take a photo of us just whilst sat at the table so would have taken a second she said she has to ask someone else because she’s too busy. The second issue was our waitress constantly told us she was busy. She come to take our drinks order and said are we also ready to order food because she’s busy. She asked if we needed any other drinks to which we said yes please and said okay I’ll do it quick because I’m busy. It just made us feel a bit unwelcome and not relaxed. We were staying in the DB Seabank and were told we were entitled to 20% off as we were on the gold bands however had to explain this to the staff a couple of times before this was actioned. Overall it was a nice meal and we still recommended it to other holiday makers but felt a few things could have been better.

Really enjoyed our meal at blu beach club. The setting is beautiful overlooking the harbour and the beach with lots of tables outside. Definitely book in advance as it was very busy when we visited! The food was absolutely delicious we had the sushi platter and all the starters we tasted were great including the tuna, the halloumi, and the calamari. This place does cater well for gluten-free however the staff did seem a little bit unsure when they brought out the meal about whether the burger bun was gluten-free it turned out it was, however they stated that the chips were not gluten-free and then brought them out anyway they did rectify this quickly but do think they probably need to be trained a little better on allergens as a friend is coeliac and those chips could’ve been a serious issue !!!! My main problem with this place is the service. The service wasn’t great, generally quite slow and found that the waiters were not that friendly. We ended up having a bit of a disagreement with the staff because the menu advertises ‘bottomless sangria’ (none of the other drinks say bottomless). Every place I have ever been bottomless means they will just keep refilling for free, however they claimed that bottomless just means they will come and top up the drink which makes it just like any other drink on the menu. We felt this was very misleading and it wasn’t until we had ordered FOUR GLASSES each that we were told that it was just pay per glass (at €8 each which is extortionate prices for small glasses). It was very clear that this is a con to get you to buy more drinks not understanding what you’re really paying for. We refused to pay for the remaining drinks at which point the waiter pretended to phone his manager and came back and said that we would still have to pay. Eventually we went backwards and forwards so much and the problem was rectified however this took about half an hour and the staff were pretty grumpy about it even though it was their mistake. we were then told that this is how ‘fine dining works’ in a very patronising way! We weren’t happy to be insinuated that we do not know what fine dining means also this restaurant is not a fine dining place. Just watch out for this if you go as this is definitely a rip-off. It kind of dampened the atmosphere as the restaurant itself is beautiful and so is the food. Really need to work on the customer service although we do appreciate them taking his drinks off the bill for us eventually!

Service is slow and poor. Waited ages to just get our first drink and they gave me the wrong one. My wife literally had to get up and ask for service. I've just seen another table do the same. I ordered some chips 30 min ago and I'm still waiting. They place is nice, staff just need to up their game. Edit: 45 min, chips still not here. Had to flag down a waiter to ask, when they came they were barely warm. It's a shame, this place could be amazing but it's let down by the shoddy service. Cocktails were nice. Edit 2. Ordered 2 more drinks when the chips came, took about 25 mins to come. When the drinks arrived we asked for the bill. Bill never came. Had to grab the waiter to ask again for the bill. When it does come there was a beer we didn't order on it, we had cocktails all night. The corrected it and it really looks like they are trying, place was busy. We left a tip because they waiters can do with some positivity. MANAGEMENT. Train your people properly, it's clear they need some decent training in customer service and hospitality. Look after your staff and the staff will look after the customer. I will come back, it's was a very chilled place and a good atmosphere. I just hope the owners decide to pull their proverbial finger out and fix the staffing issue. Day2 It's a few days later and me and the wife decided to try again. So far the menus have come quickly and our orders have been taken in s prompt and professional manner. It's looking good. Damn, I spoke too soon. Our cocktails came in a decent time but they taste like they was made with the sweat from a goblins arse. I had the 'Tane', the same cocktail I had the last time, it was nice and balanced then, this time it must have been made by donkey wearing an apron as it tastes horrid. I had to mix it with my kids juice just to drink it. We had to leave after the one drink, it was so disgusting I would rather drink the nasty free booze in our hotel than pay for this. It's a shame, it started so well and was let down by the horrid cocktails and the obnoxious lady shouting using extremely foul language. Not the bars fault but it added to the experience. I doubt I will return here or to Malta in general.

Blû Beach Club is a newly built restaurant overlooking Mellieha Bay. From first impressions on the beautiful elegant entrance I had really high hopes for this place. There is seating indoors and outdoors. The indoor seating includes tables and chairs to suit small or big groups. The seating is fantastic, they have deck chairs at the edge of the restaurant where you can sit back and relax with a drink while looking out at the breath taking views on to Mellieha Bay or the night time sky, or during the day looking across Mellieha bay onto Mellieha city. Also there is many different types of tables and chairs. A little harbour is located beside the restaurant which had some small boats out of the water and some boats in the water too. There was a breath taking ambiance about the place with it's cool hip décor, amazing views and stunning wooden structures to separate the sun loungers from the dinning guests. The lighting was just nice to give a lovely welcoming glow, including the soft light from the heaters. outside tables were decorated with lovely lanterns. We ordered drinks to start which was a mix of cocktails and wine, then we put in our order of starters and main course. There were a couple of issues, with food not being finished to serving standard or sauces and sides being forgotten about. Very poor knowledge of allergen information. But over the food was lovely and well presented. The servers were very charming and funny but I think they tried too hard, plenty of staff. The bar is located in the middle of the restaurant. We were given a round of shots after the meal to apologise for the mistakes that were made and our server was very apologetic. The most shocking part was the price!! It was most definitely the most expensive meal we had all week while in Malta by at least€100😳

It was this restaurant's stunning location and chic appearance that drew us to it and we had very high hopes for the newly refurbished restaurant. The waiting staff were very helpful with choosing drinks, but were not very knowledgeable about gluten free or vegan options. After placing the order I'm afraid it continued with mistakes and slip-ups. One person was left short their starter while another was served a cheese pastry with plastic wrapping still left inside.... Mix-ups continued with the mains with fries and sauces for steaks not coming out until staff were reminded of them after everything else was served. I did feel for the staff, as they were trying very hard, but they definitely have a few kinks to work out before the busy summer season begins or I fear this'll be the kindest review they receive. This is not a cheap restaurant, but the views are amazing (although other restaurants in the area can boast the same). The food got mixed reviews from our party with some enjoying it, and others not impressed at all. I hope Blu Beach Club continues to improve and I can see it being very successful.
