Moments in Malta Malta is an island located between Europe and Africa, in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea. There are two main spoken languages: Maltese and English. Must-see places in Malta: 🏰 Valetta: This is the capital of Malta and is sometimes called an “open-air museum.” The entire city is recognized by UNESCO for its historical and cultural value. The buildings are protected and their architectural integrity has been well preserved. The city truly comes alive at night. Restaurants and bars set up tables and chairs on the sidewalk and steps and live music is heard on every street corner. 🇲🇹 Three Cities (Vittoriosa, Senglea and Cospicua): These cities sit directly across the Grand Harbour from Valletta. To get there, you can take a ferry or luzzu (traditional fishing boat); I’d recommend taking a luzzu; they’re operated by locals and cost about 2 Euro per person for a quick 5 minute ride. If you only make it to one of the three cities, choose Vittoriosa, where the Fort Saint Angelo is located. This is where the Great Siege of 1565 occurred when the Knights of St. John and the Maltese defeated the Turks. 🏰 Mdina: This place is a must! It’s an ancient walled city and is a mix of medieval and baroque architecture. You literally feel like you’re stepping back in time. If you’re a GOT fan, you don’t want to miss this! 🗝 Rabat: This is a neighboring town to Mdina. It’s known for its impressive catacombs and archeological sites. 💧If you want to see beautiful blue water, visit St. Peter’s Pool or Mellieha Bay (just know there will likely be big crowds). 💦 Gozo: the second largest Island of the Maltese archipelago. You can charter a boat or take a 45-minute ferry to get here. The main attraction is the Blue Lagoon, but it has become a tourist trap and is flooded with crowds. Instead, go to the Crystal Lagoon in Comino. 🗿If you want to see a monument that’s older than Stonehenge and the Great Egyptian Pyramids, visit the Megalithic Temples of Malta which date back to 3600-2500 B.C. ✈️ Save this reel for your next visit! #malta #valletta #europe #europeanadventure #summerineurope #globetrotting #goexplore

It’s a more touristic larger beach with free parking space and beach bars where you can eat/drink or order some snacks. There are several spots where you can hire sunbeds and umbrellas. We just rent a umbrella for €7 for a whole day, because the sunbeds are a bit expensive (€17 for sunbed and umbrella per person). There are also some spots where you can go jetski or do some other water activities. I went jetskiing with my brother. It was €60 per person for 20 minutes (what also is rather expensive, on Gozo island you can hire a jetski for €40 for 20 minutes). The sea is perfect for kids, twe water is undeep and calm. Also the sand on the beach is perfect for kids because you can make cool sandcastles with its texture. Overall we had a fun day at this beach! If you like a more touristic beach, this is the place to go.

Nice long sandy beach BUT. - There are basically NO TOILETs! Only few ones that cost 1€ per use and they all are portable ones. Don’t wanna know how gross they are inside since u could see no one is looking after them only taking the money for them. So imagine hundreds od pple going to the toilet where exactly??? U get the hint. And there are NO SHOWERS (okay maybe there are 3). No where u can clean ur feet full of sand before u get the bus. - There are few stands with cold drinks, gelato, food etc but… the fast food u get there is beforehand prepared and they just grill it a bit to make it warm. U get a wrap that is warm outside but cold chicken from the inside (just for example). Also everywhere is very sticky, not well cleaned so alot of bees everywhere. And there are loads of trash (especially cigarettes) laying around. The only appropriate place for u to enjoy drinks and eat normal prepared food is the two restaurants on the beach. Each one on the ends of the beach. - the sunbeds and sun umbrella’s - they charge u 15€ for two beds + umbrella. They start packing stuff abit early aswell. Overall the most NOT okay thing is the toilet availability and cleanliness and non existing showers. I mean if this is one of the best beaches and u CHARGE for everything why can’t u make it more “clean friendly”? If ppl pay “for the beach”, is nice to see the effort aswell from the other side.

When you come before official summer season, keep in mind that the beach is not so clean and some of the facilities are closed. We came in the last days of may and despite the temperatures outside and great weather there were still workers removing the stuff that got accumulated on the sand throughout the winter. Still, the cost of renting the sunbed was 6 euros! I personally would not call it one of the best beaches in Malta (well, sure it is one of the very few, so maybe that is the reason). The great thing is clean water and that the depth of the sea lowers veeeery slowly, so I suppose it is a nice place to go with kids. In season there seem to be some water sports acivitities available. It is accsesible by bus (the bus stops are right next to the beach). There is also just one public toilet. No idea how is this sufficient in the high season.

Great beach amazing crystal clear water beautiful views, very empty when we visited there seems to be a lot of construction going on around (maybe why so empty), the roads are being built or worked on all day and night (this is happening around the whole of Malta also). You could stay here all day if the building works wasn't so noisy and enjoy the water because the tide is low.. there is also a water bottle refill machine for 25c you get freezing cold water perfect for the hot day, the bus stops are located along the whole beach which is very easy to access there are limited toilets which were very full and dirty the sand is probably the only sand you'll find on any beach in Malta..

As an Australian, I’m not very impressed by this beach. Pros are that the beach beds are affordable (we haggled and got each bed for €6 with umbrellas) and it’s a sand beach. Cons: I don’t know if we are just having bad luck on today but the water is murky and there’s visible garbage in it. It’s also very shallow water, which could be a pro for some people. You will also see beach vendors passing by with sunglasses etc but they are not very persistent if you tell them you’re not interested to buy anything so they won’t bother you too much.
