Golden Bay, Malta – Overrated but Pleasant Beach
Golden Bay is often ranked among the top three beaches in Malta, but in my opinion, it doesn’t quite live up to the hype. While it is a decent beach with an acceptable stretch of sand and generally clean surroundings, it lacks anything truly remarkable to justify its reputation.
The beach has a beach bar offering reasonably priced food and drinks, which is convenient. However, the public restroom near the parking area was in terrible condition – quite worrying, considering this was during the low season when visitor numbers are minimal. I can only imagine how bad it gets during peak season.
One key point to note is that although the beach has a sandy shoreline, the seabed is quite rocky. If you plan to walk in the water, I highly recommend wearing water shoes to avoid discomfort or potential injuries.

-1 ⭐️ Went to get ice cream, waited 15mins to be served because nobody was manning it, just walking past a queue of 8 people and ignoring us.
-1 ⭐️Ginish (man with a ponytail) served us and squeezed two tiny scoops into a one scoop tub. I asked very politely if it could be in a bigger tub so it was easier to eat. He grabbed a bigger tub and slammed it down on the counter.
-2 ⭐️ He then served my partner, giving normal sized scoops. While paying we politely queried the size of mine to pay €3 each when it was half the size. He grabbed it back off me and used my scoop to man handle my ice cream into the bigger tub. Saying “HAPPY NOW!?” as the ice cream was all over the tub and on the counter.
