We ate there tonight some eight weeks since the last visit, which we considered to be a very good experience in every aspect. Tonight surpassed it in every aspect. We had jack fruit bao buns with wasabi fries to begin with. The fries were hot, crisp on the outside, soft and fluffy inside and with just a warming hint of wasabi salt applied, they ignited the taste buds. The bao buns were superb. Beautifully cooked buns with a perfect filling providing a satisfying light crunch and some bitter sweet Asian flavours that danced on the palate. Very satisfying as a starter. We also tried the most amazing prawn toast. Crisp on the outside, soft and sumptuously filled with prawn meat that was full of flavour. We have never tried prawn toast like it and combined with the light and spicy sauce that accompanied the toast, it was absolutely delicious. I then had a spicy beef and ginger salad that was light, aromatic, fresh and contained a plethora of Asian flavours that were as exciting as they were satisfying. The wonderfully seasoned pulled beef was well proportioned to the amount of crisp, tangy salad and the whole ensemble was so finely balanced in flavours, that I could say it is the best oriental food I have eaten anywhere, including South East Asia and Dubai. My wife had the Salmon and noodle salad and reported that it was a collection of fresh, light flavours that were as interestingly balanced as they were expertly presented. We finished with a green tea and bitter chocolate bao bun and it was superb. The bun had a soft yielding texture and the thick bitter chocolate sauce was the perfect foil to the astoundingly delicate edge of the green tea bao bun. All in all a perfect meal served by a very pleasant waiter and cooked by the superb Belinda and her colleague and equally talented head chef. We thank you all and we will see you again...
Read moreWe went to Amami for a dinner, at 8pm. I wanted to eat the only ramen in their menu, it was unfortunately unavailable. We wanted to take their small bottle of water, they had only the big one. We took an okonomiyaki and a plate of sushis, the okonomiyaki was over toasted, it was charred (literally black), and its (large) borders were impossible to eat as they were very hard and absolutely uneatable. The okonomiyaki was also very thin. The waiter told us it is the way okonomiyaki is supposed to be, but unfortunately it was not the first time i see/eat one and it isn't true, so why not just take what we say into account? Many restaurants would have apologized and some would even have cooked another one. I told him that the sushis were not bad (but 2€75 per piece), he told me he will remember that good comment. I actually hope they will remember the useful comment about their okonomiyaki. We wont eat...
Read moreUpon entering the establishment we were greeted with the words "its going to be somewhat of a wait" as they were busy, which was fine as we had gone in 2 hours before we had to be somewhere else. After 45 mins we had to flag down a member of the staff in order to get our drinks. Fast forward to an hour after placing the order, we were told that the food would be started soon. Another half an hour passes by and the food was still not even started. We had to go up to the staff again to make sure that our food was prepared soon as we had other plans and others had work. After waiting for 1 hour and 45 mins for two bento boxes and a set of bao buns all I can say is that the food is good but certainly not worth the wait. Not only that but the kitchen is severly understaffed and the chef should not be handling food bare handed especially after licking some sauce that had fallen...
