Uniquely positioned on the side walk above the Sliema - St Julian’s Bay (between Exiles and Balluta bays) we booked a table over the water. Nice views, fresh breeze and cheerful and helpful staff (a shout out to Igor- the lovely person serving us). They offer a rather wide variety of food and we enjoyed a Mediterranean Focaccia to nibble on while waiting for the mains. Again nice sea bream and grilled calamari main dishes were served and we enjoyed the food. We had a couple of bottles of over priced Grillo, which was also nice. The only issue that soured our fun was when we ordered a liqueur before leaving, since the shot appeared to slightly tarnish the bottom of the glass it was served in. We asked the server to please double the serving and voiced our opinion on the small size of the shot. I have to commend the head waiter / manager who came soon after to enquire on the issue and he insisted that the shots served were all 25ml. Of course we did not want to ruin the evening and insisted that we would rather have a double, which was delivered promptly. It must be said that the manager advised us also that the extra shot was on the house. Again, hats off to the staff for handling the matter so professionally and quickly. I believe they were truly honest but I still saw the shot to be too little. If they are correct about the shot size I would recommend they use glasses with a smaller base and longer height and also include bigger size ice cubes to avoid the (possible) optical illusion of a...
Read more(Scroll to bottom for short conclusion) When you first walk into the resturant you have high hopes, the view is beautiful and the waitress that showed us to the table was relatively polite and nice.
She never came back and we got another waiter.
It was all downhill from there.
The drinks are overpriced, I bought a Corona without looking into the drinks menu (maybe my fault) and soon found out that it costs ~3.8 euro... For a regular size Corona beer.
We soon ordered our food and it looked fine.
I had the chicken sandwich, my friends bought the Caesar salad, Salmon and avocado rissotto and the Calamari respectively.
After one cut into my burger it looked raw, the chicken looked raw. My friend who had the Caesar salad soon found the same thing, raw chicken.
My friend who had the Rissotto got a pile of shiny buttered slush, the only one who got an alright meal was the Calamari friend, and even it wasnt that good.
My friend asked about the raw chicken and was offered another plate, the waiter was kinda condesending and the manager also.
I was tired and hungry so I just cut the raw pieces away and continued with my meal, I will say that the caramalized onions and the bun were excellent.
In conclusion...the staff was rude, food wasnt great and even undercooked, drinks were overpriced, too much bad food in...
Read moreWe spent out morning and early afternoon at the seafront and the nearby park. As we got hungry and my wife is celiac we startet to look for a restaurant with gluten free options. So we found Fresco's and wemt there for lunch. The nice terrace with the beautiful view over the bay was almost empty so we got a table at the end of the terrace. The menu has many different options from healthy salads, pasta, local dishes to pizza and meat. There are many gluten free options including gf pasta. My wife had sea food pasta and I got the pappardelle with beef and mushrooms. As noted in the menu the dishes are cooked freshly which takes a bit longer. Based on the very fair prices and our previous experiences in Malta we were a bit worried that the food would not meet our expectations. When the friendly but a bit reserved waiter brought pur food we were super excited before even trying it. It looks really delicous. The portions were very big (eventhough my wife had a small portion) and really really good. We both were really happy about the delicious food, which was based of the fair price one of the best meals we had in Malta. We can highly recommend this place for everybody and especially for...
