First time in Costa Coffee as we tend to avoid big brand coffee shops in favour of small independents.
However, we were in need of a drink and a sit down so we nipped inside.
I just wanted a large straightforward coffee with milk - nothing fancy and certainly, no fluff and nonsense.
My partner wanted a simple black tea with cold milk on the side and this is why we don't visit shops like this. Everything on display was flavoured teabags but luckily, the young lady behind the counter managed to dig out an English Breakfast teabag.
I ended up with a rather large 'soup bowl' of black coffee with a handle on either side to enable me to pick the 'cup' up. I believe it was a Grand Doble Macchiato with cold milk on the side and - it was a very good cup of coffee.
More surprising, was the price for both at less than €5 - by comparison to two squittering tiny cups we had in Mellieha a couple of days before, which cost more and the staff were less obliging to serve something we both wanted.
So, we may have been converted to Costa Coffee but - we shall see. If the same cost applies now we're back home, we're on a winner and my partner will be joining me with the coffee ☕
EDIT to add an addendum to my very last paragraph immediately above here: Having recently visited a Costa Coffee back home a week or so ago, I can now report that a single coffee for me - came to to just over the cost of what we paid for our 2 drinks in Costa Coffee, 248 Tower Road, Sliema, Malta. I guess we won't be revisiting the same place in the UK but, we know where to come next time we're in Malta!
Carry on the good work boys and...
Read moreI visited this coffee shop recently with my husband, hoping to enjoy a quiet break from the August heat but sadly, it was anything but relaxing. The air conditioning was either not working or completely inadequate, and the place felt like a sauna. It was stiflingly hot and deeply uncomfortable to sit in for more than a few minutes.
What really struck me was how inconsiderate this is, not just for customers, but especially for the staff who have to work in those conditions all day. It's hard to imagine how elderly customers or anyone with health concerns could safely or comfortably spend time here. It honestly felt like the well-being of both guests and employees isn’t a priority for management.
Coffee shops are meant to be a space to unwind, but this felt more like a test of endurance. In this kind of heat, a functioning AC isn’t optional but it’s basic hospitality. I sincerely hope they take action soon, because right now, it’s hard to justify...
Read moreLovely Café with nice cakes and even sandwiches. Sadly I just could try the donuts, because the little one wanted them so much. Next time. When we arrived there was a huge queque (Saturday late morning), but they worked fast and good. I've ordered a large Latte with almond milk (you can choose between soy, almond or cow). We had a nice place next to a window with lovely seats and a table. The staff is always on the run cleaning table etc and very attentive.
The restrooms are in the hotel, so you have to take a few steps up the stairs & they also got a nappy changing room up there.
The price is great - i paid round about 11€ for a really large coffe, a plain donut and a bottle...
