There’s no Sandy beaches along the sliema promenade stretch but heaps of flat rocks to lay on and heaps of pool ladders to help you into the water off the rocks.
But we have a 3yo kid so those weren’t options for us. Fond Ghadir was perfect for us. Small set of stairs down. Plenty of rock space to set up. The pond/pool area gradually tapers from ankle depth to head high to cater for all levels of abilities. There were lifeguards there both days we went even late into the afternoon. We also had fun looking around the rock pools and finding heaps of fish and crabs scampering about.

Read moreNice place, close to restaurants, and hotels with nice waters to swim in. Some waves can get a bug strong but there is a section with shallower waters. There are ladders to get in and out.
The wet rocks are very slippery so do be careful, we fell at least once each and I saw a few other people almost falling too.
The area is very pretty with large rock pools along the coast.
Just maybe bring an umbrella for the sun on hot days as there isn't a lot of shade and you'll need to lay a towel down...

Drinks and food can be brought, it is a free local place, but you can also get it on the boulevard where the stairs are or at Surfside restaurant. There is enough place to put your towel or mat. The sea has a rocky bottom which makes it dangerous for children. You really should know how to sw when you come here.
